View Full Version : Wow, Ms Wilma C Fine passed away...RIP WhiteSE 09-25-2009, 03:56 PM Nice obit by the NYT http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/25/arts/music/25fine.html?_r=1&hpw WhiteSE 09-25-2009, 03:59 PM Another article from the WSJ http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125383436369039243.html Art K. 09-25-2009, 04:06 PM RIP Ms. Fine. Strangeband 09-25-2009, 08:26 PM I read the WSJ article earlier today. What a classy person she was. electroking 12-04-2009, 02:58 PM Hadn't heard of WCF's passing until I read about it yesterday in the French magazine Classica/Répertoire. Should have been reading this forum with more attention. RIP. Note added (quoting from the NYT obituary): "they experimented with recording on 35-millimeter film instead of on magnetic recording tape." This seems to imply that this medium was not magnetic tape. Of course it was, only with added width and perforations for synchronizing with the pictures. The same funny wording was quoted in the magazine I read yesterday. JonL 12-04-2009, 03:09 PM Nice obit in the NYT. Never knew about her before but I'm sure glad she existed. RIP, Ms. Fine. no1maestro 12-04-2009, 06:04 PM I thought I had written about her at the time of her passing but it might have been in another room. She and her husband Bob Fine were with Mercury for many years. She was not only innovative and had great ears but the first woman in that kind of position. I still listen to her work on an almost daily basis. She will be sorely missed! Shackman55 12-04-2009, 11:31 PM What greater a tribute, than that her works are still being enjoyed and sought after. Who of us can say any of our life works will be remembered even 1 year after we are gone. Her contributions will continue to bring pleasure. |
