Last Thursday, I was drifting through andyhif.50webs.com/audio.htm. ( I will not link to this because of the following.) I hit a link, the screen turns blue, a brief message appears, and then the Dell XPS 410 reboots itself. I have Antivirus Pro 2010 on the task bar and on the desk top screen. I tried to delete this but I could not do it. Long story short, I contacted Dell and the tech DL Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in the safe-mode and removes the @#$%# Antivirus Pro 2010 along with 25 other invaders. Yes, it cost me a few bucks but it was worth it.
My question is: Does the Malwarebytes stay on the desk top for free along with its updates or do I have to purchase it from their website?

Well, I have had Malwarebytes installed for 3 or 4 months now - it re-installs itself when it updates. You don't have to purchase it, but you are encouraged to.

I think more functions are available on the purchased version.

Works for me.

I was bummed out to see that the CastleCops website no longer exists. Dell was my last resort for this problem. Though the computer is under warranty, it does not cover software problems so I agreed to pay for the malware removal.

First thing I do when I get a new PC is uninstall all the crap that comes pre-loaded on it save the Operating System and any applications I might actually use. The first upgrade I make is to add a new browser. I'm fond of Google's Chrome for browsing.

I've used Norton and never had a problem. Knock on wood.

I've been running AVG and Spybot with good results so far on 5 computers.

AVG free is an awesome virus protection program. You need little else to be protected, but if you do have a problem after all, and you can follow simple written instructions (you don't need to be computer literate), the folks on Icrontic (http://icrontic.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=57) will fix you up for free. I've never encountered a problem they couldn't solve. Icrontic is my online home for computer advice, same as AK is for all things related audio :thmbsp:
