I'm shipping a MX110 to a fellow member on AA and maybe here too.
Anyway, McIntosh no longer has the template for the box for it. What should I get? Is there another pre amp box where I would just have to cut new feet holes or something?
Regards.

You can have a custom made wood box fabricated for it- crate it!

Hi,
I would be the other AA member, looks like the carton I have for my MR74 has the same dimensions 5-7/16 16W 13D as the MX110. Roger Russel's page once again was most helpful.

You got it, the carton is correct as well as the foot pattern. Be sure that the unit is not in a cabinet when you ship it.... glass is not available right now! Ship the cabinet separate.

Never use a wood box to ship unless one was used from the factory, the wood does not provide any cushion or give from a hard hit, it will transfer the hit right to the tuner. I have seen wood boxes lined with 1" foam turn glass into shards and rip transformers off of a chassis.

Hi,
Last week I bought a MX-110 on Ebay. Right after I paid for it, I saw this thread about proper shipping of the 110. Contacted my seller but he already shipped. Sure enough broken black glass near the tuner dial knob. Do I need to find a replacement for the whole faceplate? Where can I find one? The tuner was insured for $1,000 so I hope to get something back. Any advice appreciated.

Outer glass should be in stock by now at www.radiodaze.com , replacing the outer/upper glass is what you will need to do, make sure the top rail is not bent, if it has the slightest bend it will crack the glass. If the rail is bent be prepared to use a vice with padded jaws and a wrench to straighten it, must fix the old one as a new one can not be had...
