Here's the deal. I started a league with the guys I work with after the 1st week of the season. There's seven of us and to round things out I put my better half in the last spot. The pot is $50 per person. I'm paying for both of us, and basically playing both teams. I'm also league commissioner. Is it ethical for me to trade between the two of us as long as the trades are of fair value? If so, is this a fair trade> A.Green for T.Brady?

I would think Green is worth more than Brady, but both are every week starters, so I wouldn't disallow it if it were made in our league. It's not like Green for Jake Plummer. Personally, I wouldn't trade Green unless I got more; he's like a top 5 player overall. Like Green for Culpepper or Manning.
Normally, a trade like this, across positions, involves multiple players at similar postitions to even things out. Like Green and a QB for Brady and a RB.
Hope this helps.
OK. I just read the edit. I wouldn't do it. Since you're the Commish and are running both teams, it really looks bad. Unless of course one team has Green, Holmes, and Thomlinson, and the other has Manning and Brady, but I doubt that's the case.
Be real careful with those trades between "family" teams. Folks get upset in freebie leagues; it could get real nasty in a $50 league.
