Hi all, just got this unit and everything appears to work fine except for:

1. the stereo light doesn't work although fm reception is fine.
2. the stereo tuning meter doesn't work in fm mode; works fine in am mode.

noticed that when the muting is turned on all fm output is cut off. I have the schematic and a meter and am not afraid to test.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Your tuner is going deaf, it's limping along, but when you go for an absolute signal level by using the muting, it's below threshold. It's also too low to activate the stereo decoder.

Tuning meter as in signal strength or center of channel? I'm not sure what the 1000 has.

You need to get it to somebody to do an alignment and a possible repair. You would need a rf signal source and a scope capable of reading 10's of millivolts at 10.7 MHz.

The LM703L in the FM section can be purchased through partstore.com as the LM703LH if they are needed..

sorry......
