Hi from the UK.
I 'rediscovered' my system of PL-570 TT; SX-650 receiver & IMF Super Compact 2 speakers and I've found a space for them!
After all these years, this set-up STILL sounds just GREAT (to my ears anyway); a richer, smoother sound than my modern home cinema-based setup.
As for power, the system's "rated" at 35 watts but it sounds much MUCH more. :music:
Enough blurb, the thing is ... should I refurbish the kit?
I've found suppliers here in the UK for new veneer and lots of parts and I've read some guides on this forum. I reckon I'm competent enough.
It would have to be done in stages as funds allow.
Should I do it?
In any particular order?
Advice welcome.

Nice...

Rediscovering our old gear is always enlightening.

I'm no expert but I would start with the receiver and replace the caps. That seems to be the number one thing to do.

Refoam the speaker drivers if needed and replace caps too.

The turntable looks nice in the photo you posted. If it works well I wouldn't do anything to it.

And if the speakers need new veneer that would be the last thing I do. Once you get the "bug" (you already have now that you have joined AK) you'll start looking for more vintage gear. You will seek out and find vintage speakers that you may like better.

I never heard the IMF Super Compact 2 speakers (UK only I guess) but after googling them they look pretty nice.

But eventually you'll realize you are hooked and will want to get a pair of Pioneer HPM-100's or some other vintage Pioneer speakers to go with your set-up.
