I remember Hair of the Dog. I refuse believe that I am...umm...it's not that old!
My apartment has paper thin walls so I can't indulge in the decible levels required to enjoy it.
Actually, I'm thinking Montrose, Rock Candy would probrably get me evicted. :thmbsp:

Sadly, many have or they are so busy twiddling knobs they ignore the music. :worried:

Well what surprise :scratch2:

After cranking up the volume a bit I post this thread. Coming outta the bedroom was the wife. So I put on my best sh*t eat'in grin :D ready to have my tailfeathers scorched for playing it loud. But to my surprise She came out telling me she hadn't heard those tunes forever. And could I play this and that for her :yikes: Is this the same woman who usually tell me in no uncertain terms to turn it down :grumpy:

I checked no, no alien spaceships outside.

So for the next hour she curls up on the couch in the sweet spot and I play DJ

I must be winning her over cuz this has never ever happened before. Although I have been seeing some new CeeDee's in the rack. Cher, John Denver etc... Definitely not my tastes.

It was fun :bigok:
Guess that ole Marantz 4400 is winning the battle of the livingroom for me.

So I'll just have to keep up the good work :D

Take care !

It's not just the classics that you have to crank, there are some newer albums that I can only listen to at a ridiculous level...

The Killers - Hot Fuss (some of the tracks anyway, sort of a mix of new wave, disco and rock and roll)
The Sounds - Living in America (European dance rock)
The Rasmus - Dead Letters (not even gonna try to describe this one...)
Von Bondies - Pawn Shoppe Heart (actually reminiscent of that '70s rock, kind of a garage band retro sound)

Not to say I don't love the classics, too. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned AC/DC. "Hell's Bells" showed me how loud my system will actually go... (It could be heard one floor up on the opposite end of my solid concrete dormitory, while teaching my friends that wattage doesn't necessarilty matter and that tubes are cool. :D )

Steppenwolf's "Born to be wild" Driving tunes like that BEG to be cranked!

Doors and "the Wasp" (Texas radio and the big beat) very punchy.

SWMBO's picks:

Led Zep, "When the levy breaks"

Radiohead, "Paranoid Android"

Lately it has been most of but not all of a best of by Lou Reed. "Sally Can't Dance" with the brass behind it really kicks ass and the recording is great. "Some Girls" brings back memories of High school and what a kick we got out of that being played on the air ways in Boston. The lyrics still wierd me out but the music is hauntingly beautiful, and yes, it loves the SPLS!!!!!

And because it is almost Halloween I picked up a new used copy of Camille St Seans with Danse Macabre on it. Lots of tympony and just a fun tune. I think this was the waltz music in the party scene in the Adams Family movie. Need to get a copy of that........Are those cookies made from real girlscouts?

Not much gets me to drag out speakers that can really "crank" But when i do How can you not Blow your neighbors ear drums out with a little Hendrix Star spangled banner

I bet I lost more hearing to this song then all others.

They say music is the food of love,
Let's see if you are hungry enough,
Take a bite, take another, just like a good boy would,
Get a sweet thing on the side,
Home cooking, homicide,
Side order, could be your daughter,
Fingerlicking good

Come on baby, eat the rich,
Put the bite on the son of a bitch,
Don't mess around, don't give me no switch,
C'mon baby eat the rich
C'mon baby eat the rich

Sittin' here in a restaurant,
Tell the waiter just what you want
Is that the meat, you wanted to eat,
How would you ever know?
Hash browns an' bacon strips,
I love the way that you lick your lips,
No fooling, I can see you drooling,
Feel the hunger grow

[Chorus]

Eat up, eat you, eat me,
Eat two, get one free
Shetland pony, extra pepperoni
Just pick up the phone,
Eat greek, or eat chinese,
Eat salad, or scarf up grease
You're on the shelf, maybe eat yourself,
Come on, bite my bone

It's mostly things from groups I have seen live. Black Sabbath stuff especially!
They way they would play War Pigs, Wicked World, Hand Of Doom were sure
an incredible experience in their early days. I remember their shows as if it were yesterday and it is never the same at home, but I try! :D

There is a lot out there that I enjoy at Thunder God volume.

The Kinks - Low Budget, Sleepwalker, GTPWTW, etc. Dave Davies is a fantastic rock guitarist.

The Who - most anything works here

Cracker - Sure wish this stuff was available on vinyl!

Ten Years After - Most of it really works for me.

The J. Geils Band - especially the live material

The Beatles - Abbey Road & The White Album

Tom Petty - Echo, Wildflowers & She's the One.

CCR/John Fogerty - maybe not the best player but I love the tone he gets.

The Osmond brothers - :D
