View Full Version : How did humankind ever manage without these? Dude111 11-03-2009, 06:34 AM Natures platform (http://www.naturesplatform.com) Bumper Dumper (http://www.bumperdumper.com) :D hatrack71 11-03-2009, 10:45 AM We just did. Ohighway 11-03-2009, 10:48 AM Re the "Natures Platform". Look at the pic ..."The relaxed, natural squatting posture" ? What's natural about taking a crap with your pants still on ? And the "Bumper Dumper" .... well..... would you expect anything less from Uncle Booger ? krowmagnum 11-03-2009, 10:50 AM If Elvis had one of those.... Arkay 11-03-2009, 11:18 AM Well, folks... confession time! I MUCH, MUCH prefer the "nature's platform" way of, um, taking care of business. Some of the older/traditional toilets here have heavy porcelain fixtures set into the floor, with flat spaces for the feet on either side, and a tank flush just like a conventional Western toilet. Once you've used one a few times, there is no getting around it. It IS a BETTER way to "go"! Cleaner, faster, more thorough elimination that just feels RIGHT! [Sorry if that is more information than you needed. :D] If I move back to the U.S., one thing that I will FOR SURE be taking back is a few of those fixtures, to install in my home! And this comes from a guy who has had two knee surgeries, and the last time (after a few months of not bending the knee joint, due to complications) had to spend a long and painful time just gradually becoming able to bend the knee again at all, let alone squat all the way down again... It was worth all the pain of that, just to be able to use that kind of toilet again -- no joke. Once you've tried it both ways and compared, there is no getting around it: Sit-down "throne" type toilets are un-natural, and impair proper functioning, leading to problems that you'll never get with regular squatting. And squatting like that every day is GOOD for you, even if you aren't eliminating anything! Contrary to what many believe, it is good for the knee and ankle joints, although you might not want to stay down in that position for too long at one stretch (no pun intended), for circulatory reasons. If you have any problems with constipation, diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, etc... you have NO business criticising these things! Even if you don't have any problems like those (fortunately, I don't!), still, don't knock what you haven't tried. You're only showing your ignorance and foolishness, if you do! Humans survived for close to three million years of evolution before anyone stupidly thought to use a horizontal seat for crapping. It is unnatural, not very efficient, and tends to cause diseased states in the long term. Furthermore, by robbing people of their last remaining excuse to squat (now that chairs are ubiquitous), it tends to lead to stiffened tendons and musculo-skeletal imbalances. Anyone have a sore back/lower back pain? The fact that you probably never squat all the way down like that, is very likely a major contributing factor. In hunter-gatherer societies without chairs, people routinely squat that way for extended periods, without harm. They remain more limber and stronger and better-balanced than we, who never squat, are. Full squatting also helps with other aspects of health, including digestion and hormonal balances. Just because "everyone" does something one way where you live, doesn't mean it is the "right" way or the "best" way. In this case, unless you have a real injury and cannot squat down properly, using a regular toilet (when the choice is available) is much like a person with no injury using crutches or a cane to walk with -- it is actually STUPID! Ranks up there with addictions to nicotine and refined sugars, flourescent lighting, and staring at computer screens for long periods of the night (while posting on AK, perhaps... :D) instead of sleeping, as one of the more stupid and unhealthful things some of us do. Ohighway 11-03-2009, 11:22 AM Yeah, yeah, yeah....... But I still contend you should remove your pants first. :thmbsp::D Arkay 11-03-2009, 11:34 AM Yeah, yeah, yeah....... But I still contend you should remove your pants first. :thmbsp::D Remove what pants? You still wear pants? Man, how un-liberated can you get? Don't you know that wearing restrictive, non-breathing, heat-retaining pants is bad for your health, both physical and mental? Dude, nude is the only way to go (pun intended)! Let it all hang out! [Okay, now I'm just joking... but I wasn't joking about those squat-type toilets actually being a superior, more healthful way to go.] Ohighway 11-03-2009, 11:36 AM Then you need to contact those folks at Natures Platform. :D similost 11-03-2009, 11:38 AM Sure would love to see how company would deal with that platform if they had to use your can... visiman 11-03-2009, 11:39 AM All I have to say! visiman 11-03-2009, 11:43 AM too bad, do I have to suscribe to enter gifs? as soon as the 901's are sold I'm in! untill then: http://www.makefive.com/categories/news-business/design/top-5-coolest-animated-gifs/toilet-diving SolderIron 11-03-2009, 03:13 PM >the "Natures Platform". The relaxed, natural squatting posture" I tried perching on tree branches and let drop when I was a kid. It was OK. chillwolf 11-03-2009, 04:17 PM Like my Dad used to say, "there's more than one way to skin a cat." Although, I don't know why anyone would want to skin a cat! clydeselsor 11-03-2009, 05:07 PM Looks silly to me! stereofanboy 11-03-2009, 05:27 PM If the Nature's Platform guys are correct (and I suspect they are),then they are trying to help us. Does that means the Bumper Dumper guys are trying to kill us? treserious 11-03-2009, 10:57 PM they had one of those bumper dumpers on top gear. i think it was the polar special. thedelihaus 11-03-2009, 11:35 PM ...I MUCH, MUCH prefer the "nature's platform"...Once you've used one a few times, there is no getting around it. It IS a BETTER way to "go"! .... Lee, then how do you balance your dinner plate on your lap? x_25 11-04-2009, 12:29 AM Like my Dad used to say, "there's more than one way to skin a cat." Although, I don't know why anyone would want to skin a cat! I have always wondered about the "more than one way to skin a cat" as far as I know there is only one. What other ways are there? Is there a zipper or something? aidynphoenix 11-04-2009, 12:37 AM im not so sure they should be able to call it natural.. if it was natural i think people might even crap standing up.. when you gotta go you gotta go.. i dont think the caveman would care if he had to shit while chaseing down his meal... if its comming.. would he really care if he shits on himself?? maybe after the fact he might realise that it smells.. whoknows he might like the smell or the warm sensation.. he was probably covered in dirt anyhow.. and he was probably used to having feces on himself.. do you really think he held his junk when he had to pee?? salred 11-04-2009, 06:36 AM Shared the link with a friend and he suggested several improvements: * a seat belt; and * articulated mount so you can bank into curves. I think adding the element of dumping at speed is enough to warrant its own patent! "... Second gear - I lean right, Third gear - hold on tight, ..." * -- Steve A. * (c) "Little Honda", Beach Boys JesusChrysler 11-04-2009, 06:52 AM I wasn't going say this; but you guys need to stop talking shit. :D Matt GlobalWarming 11-04-2009, 07:49 AM "In those cultures, appendicitis, diverticulosis, hemorrhoids, colitis, prostate disorders and colon cancer are virtually unknown" These claims are questionable.............The main reason the western world suffer from these maladies is the lack of a balanced nutrition, specially the lack of fiber...... Fellow member Arkay can expand on this subject........:D thedelihaus 11-04-2009, 10:11 AM This thread is in the toilet.... bentpencil 11-04-2009, 10:11 AM Well, I think both Arkay and ADVHamburg would both agree that THIS... (http://www.puretravel.com/blog/2009/05/19/if-she-hasnt-yet-she-will-soon/) method will probably lead to proper evacuation! (Adult Image??) Numistrek09 11-05-2009, 01:28 AM im not so sure they should be able to call it natural.. if it was natural i think people might even crap standing up.. when you gotta go you gotta go.. i dont think the caveman would care if he had to shit while chaseing down his meal... if its comming.. would he really care if he shits on himself?? maybe after the fact he might realise that it smells.. whoknows he might like the smell or the warm sensation.. he was probably covered in dirt anyhow.. and he was probably used to having feces on himself.. do you really think he held his junk when he had to pee?? Am i sick for finding the above mental image funny? I just picture a bunch of cave men chasing down a mastadon with stone spears in hand and turds flying out the rear. On a more serious note, i must offer defense of our pre-historic ancestors. On multiple occasions archologists have found the equivalent of a "dump" in cave dwellings. All kinds of animal remains, broken stone tools and of course, coprolites. (fossil turds) So the presence of a garbage pile suggests that these folks appreciated at least some level of cleanliness. As for peeing, given modern man's pre-disposition to playing target practice with his wee; i fully think ancient man was quite willing to grab hold and hose down whatever objects he pleased. Some survival experts still today "mark" their territory when camping out in the boonies. |
