I have a Technics SA-410 receiver, which until yesterday worked great! I plugged in a portable CD player to see if it was working , it was, unplugged the CD player and this loud, humming sound was coming from my speakers! I'm sure that whatever has happened to my receiver was 100% my fault, my question is how do I fix this? The receiver turns on, lights up, but no sound comes out anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

do your speakers have an overload reset button? also see if your receiver works with headphones.

I will have to check the headphones. The speakers do nothave an overload reset on them. I have recently hooked up an older receiver to see if the speakers were blown, and they appear to be okay.

Possibly a bad ground connection with your interconnect cables or worst a problem with your power supply ie. filter caps and / or rectifiers.
