I'll admit up front, it was way too redneck for my tastes. But that aside, my son loves CMT and watches it all the time. So we watched the whole concert together.

The best part (besides just hanging out with my son)? OK, laugh if you want, but don't knock it until you hear it. Kid Rock did a slow, country version of Queen's "Fat Bottom Girls" that was just awesome. I'm not joking here. I recorded the show. That song will make it on my next compilation.

The concert had Hank Jr., Kid Rock, remaining members of Lynrd Skynrd, Tanya Tucker, Gretchen Wilson, Shooter Jennings (Waylon's son), and a few others I can't remember this early.

On a side note, two years ago, I wouldn't have given Kid Rock the time of day. But with all the crossover stuff he's done with country artists on CMT (Sheryl Crow, Hank Williams Jr., Kenny Chesney etc.), I honestly believe he's one of the most versatile artists I've heard in a long while. Who else could rock, rap, sing a beautiful duet with Sheryl Crow, and stomp out redneck songs with Bocephus, and be good at all of them?

JD (later today probably wishing I'd never submitted this thread)

Up to about a year ago ...I would ave never given the 'New Country' half a chance...but I had to stop having a Narrow mind and gave it a chance...Now that I ve opened up and tried it...

I tell ya whut!!...there are some hotties in the business...and the tunes...well there aint nuttin' like trashin through a cornfeild at 2:30 in the morning ...with a cutie by yer side ...and the cops chasin ya...while yer on yer way to the 'Honky-Tonk'......

Anyway!!!!...I use the 'narrow mind' phrase ...because there is a guy at work...who is the ultimate in Heavy metal technonogy.....if it has even the 'slightest' hint of an Acoustic Guitar in it ...he goes off the deep end......

We always tease him by playing country on the radio because he hates it so much.....the funny thing is ...he is like a 'Biker Wanna-be'...he should associate with this kind of music ...because he wants to live like that!!!!!! :dunno:
