Guys I know that you two have more xperience in FF than I so here's my question. Is it common to only have one [1] commissioner per league? I started the [Yahoo] league at work, which by default made me commiss. And now that I'm leading the league some of the guys are growning about only having one commissioner. What do you do when they bitch about a veto'd trade? Put it to a group vote or have more than one commiss? I suppose if I were in last place this would have never come up? MikE

MikE:

Every league I've played in has one commissioner, just like the real world. Often, they do well because they know enough about football to set up the league in the first place, and they set the rules so they draft players best suited for those rules.
Vetoed trades should be no problem if you've been fair. I always let folks do what they want if the values of players exchanged seems fair. No Dante Culpepper for Rich Gannon (IR) trades. You also have to watch that folks don't start ganging up toward the end of the season, which is to say that the guys out of playoff contention don't try to load someone up to beat the top seed.

PS, what trade did you/are you vetoing? Give me the trade and I'll let you know what I'd do.

Folks are gonna whine about stuff; it comes with the territory. Our AK league is pretty whine free, but we're winding up with a lot of parity. We have one guy at 6-1 and 4 at 5-3, so there's not one dominant team to beat, and that makes it more interesting.

Screw the group vote and execrise your power as Commissh. Your job isn't to keep these guys happy, but to run a fair game. If you're doing that and they aren't happy, that's just too bad. :D

Hey MikE :)

It really is just too bad if they aren't making good choices, like you are. However, if they're all new at this...I would let my good judgment on players lag behind for others to grasp the opportunity. But that's my choice to try and "urge" them to participate and become more involved. If every time they think to look, all the good players are taken...well, there may come a point when they stop looking. Your already hooked, if they aren't yet...I say give'em some more line to take the bait. They may just run with it ;)
