I was at my local library today. I had already checked out some books & movies. Then I visited the Library Bookstore, which I do about once/week. They have thousands of almost new books, many of them bestsellers (hardback & paperback) for 50 cents or $1.00. So I walk by one bookcase and see four LPs for sale. Only one interests me, a Lily Tomlin comedy album. I comment I haven't seen LPs here before. The employee says "we have boxes of them downstairs, but have no place to display them. Would you like to see them?"
Would I like to see them? I looked at the calendar to make sure today wasn't Dec. 25th. So I go to a locked up room in the basement and emerge with the following LPs (about 90% of which are NM or better):
Lily Tomlin This is a Recording
Bruce Springsteen Greetings from Asbury Park
Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run
Bruce Springsteen - The River
Dire Straits Brothers in Arms
Sting The Dream of the Blue Turtles
Billy Preston Late At Night
Joan Baez Noel
Pink Floyd A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Nothin But The Blues
Deep Purple The House of Blue Light
ZZ Top Eliminator
Laid Back Sunshine Reggae
Van Halen 1984
Frankie Goes To Hollywood Rage Hard
Traffic John Barleycorn Must Die
James Taylor Flag
Rickie Lee Jones The Magazine
B52s Wild Planet
Red Fox Ghetto Gospel
Christmas Classics (Gene Autry, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Tenn. Ernie Ford, Dean Martin ..)
The Wonderful World of Christmas (Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Tenn. Ernie Ford)
Final bill = $10. And that included four books and one cd (a pretty good compilation in its own right - I listened to it on the way home today).
22 albums for half of the price of one new cd. Amazing.
