grumpy 12-07-2004, 10:05 PM For Sale Marantz 4300
This one is just gorgeous. Just back from a short stint at Echowars for a bit of his magic. Clean as all get out. Looks and sound amazing.
All posts cleaned and lubed. All lamps function perfectly. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer unit anywhere.
This was was tested and in 2 channel it pumped out an amazing 185 watts per channel ! Not bad for being rated at a mere 100 wpc.
Come with a 30 day guarantee. Price 375.00 plus shipping. Pics will follow soon.
Grumpy.
luvvinvinyl 12-08-2004, 11:30 AM Grumpy, you're killin' me!
grumpy 12-08-2004, 11:34 AM This ones got your name written all over it
luvvinvinyl 12-08-2004, 11:39 AM Yeah, I know. And just back from EW, to boot!
grumpy 12-08-2004, 11:49 AM Ya know I have the grump easy payment plan............. You pay me and you can have it !
Seriously if ya want it I'm sure we can work something out.
luvvinvinyl 12-08-2004, 11:56 AM Between now and the time you post the pics, I will see if I can develop some willpower!
EchoWars 12-08-2004, 07:18 PM Nothing to look at here...except a near-perfect 4300...
...unless you just need a pic before you hit the breaking point and whip out the checkbook.
Might add that...this receiver cranks out 185WPC in two-channel mode into 8 ohms (in two channel, the four amp sections are bridged into two channels, but you knew that). I don't know what Marantz's recommendations are for speaker impedence when it is in two channel mode, but I'd be conservative and stick with something close to 8 ohms, since a bridged amp 'sees' half the actual impedence.
The receiver got a nice tune-up and DeOxit cleaning, and the faceplate, tuner display plastic, & knobs were polished to a gnat's ass. I also replaced the old dingy yellow vellum behind the tuner display with new stuff which brightens the numerals and input selector lights....makes the display look factory new.
Hella nice-looking receiver (if you're into that Marantz stuff ;))
grumpy 12-08-2004, 07:23 PM Oh I bet them dial lamps look sweet with the new Velum behind there.
I know LV is just dying to pull the trigger on this one. :D
luvvinvinyl 12-08-2004, 07:58 PM GRUMPY! You and Echo? Double-teaming? What, like you aren't big enough to do this on your own?
I'm dyin' here.
p.s. Echo, yeah, the pic would probably make me whip out my chequebook. I have seen pics of units that have gotten that kind of description from you.
luvvinvinyl 12-08-2004, 08:00 PM 185 wpc. Got a line on a pair of HPM 100's, they are all hot and bothered by the prospect of meeting a 4300!
grumpy 12-11-2004, 02:11 PM Here is a pic but it doesn't come close to showing how nice this one is
bolly 12-11-2004, 02:15 PM 185 wpc. Got a line on a pair of HPM 100's, they are all hot and bothered by the prospect of meeting a 4300!
...they won't be! :D They'll love her. 185WPC
Let me just shill a little here. I have one of these and it is a killer receiver. Wood case and the quad module as well. I love it and it gets alot of compliments. That price is below what I've seen on Ebay. Needless to say, no grumpy/EW goodness on the Ebay offerings either!
luvvinvinyl 12-11-2004, 06:24 PM You guys didn't have to gang up on me. :D I have a 2252B from Grumpy in my LR, so I know what that seal of approval means. DW won't let me move it out, says its HERS! 4300 would be for me!
EW's TLC only puts it over the top, IMHO. Grumpy knows my weakness. "Move toward the blue light"!
"Hot and bothered"? bolly, the HPM-100's were lusting after the 4300, just as bad as I am, but that deal was TGTBT, and fell through. Other prospects, though.
About 4 days away from a decision, pending sales to close.

grumpy 12-21-2004, 11:44 AM I'm sorry. Forgot to mark this one as Sold.
I will have a couple more Marantz coming up in the coming weeks but no more 4300.
If its Quad you want I also have the TOTL JVC 4VR-5456 which is the same power as the 4300 in quad and stereo

BroonsBane, I watch this site:Grumpy's Garage (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/imgrumpyerr/)
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: You can buy with complete confidence from Grumpy. He understates the condition, then overpacks, to make sure it stays that way.
Great guy with whom to deal. :thmbsp:

Yeah, those 2330B's are sweet. Came two ways, silver meters or black. I like em either way. WC-123 is the walnut dress-up case for that unit. Top and two side pieces that fit together, held on by the case screws. Just got a NIB! WC-122 for my 2252B, baby brother to the 2330B. Sweet look for a fine rcvr, which also came from Grumpy.
BTW, my 4300 also takes the 123, so, don't hold it against me, but, if you get Grump's 2330B, and I get to a 123 first, I'll probably keep it.
luvvinvinyl 12-29-2004, 11:20 AM Brought this baby home from Grumpy's yesterday (Great to see Ms Grumpy and some of the kids, and hear the Kuzma and the Almorro speaks)) Packed like a mad mofo, as usual! Let it sit overnight, and fired it up this morning, into a pair of EPI 100s. Sweet sounding kit! To be expected, tho, after EW's TLC. Thanks for that, Grump, and Echo!
BTW, EW called it 'near-mint', well, okay, but I SEARCHED for 15 mins, with a lens, looking for the defect, couldn't find one.
Thanks, again, Grumpy for another great deal.
grumpy 12-29-2004, 05:11 PM Glad you like the ole girl. One of these days I'm gonna have to come on over for a visit.
Some of the other Marantz I have are
105 tuner
2130 tuner
1030 amp
2230
2270
MA-5 Esotec
Maybe a cassette deck or two and still trying to find a couple of Preamps I have floating.
