My $100 Washburn is ready to meet its maker and I would like to graduate to the guitar so many of my idols used! Johnny Thunders, Marc Bolan, and Mick Ronson were Les Paul guys, and Albert Hammond Jr. (the Strokes) is an LP Jr.

At the pawn shops and guitar center they want WAY more than I can afford...and I am looking at USED stuff!

If you have a 100% working Les Paul, PM me. Tanx.

You're looking at some serious coin...probably around a grand for the real deal.

I'd recommend shopping at www.rondomusic.com, as they have some VERY nice LP copies that are faaaaar better than the Epicrap LP's, and in some cases, better than the Gibson LP's.

One with all the bells and whistles will run you about $350 new.

IF you see a LP copy in a pawn shop or any where else named ASPEN. If it's not beat, Not a well Known copy from 70's. Made in Japan but a real good copy( every thing a Les Paul has But the gibson name) grab it, take it home change the hardware probably will have the chrome or gold plating pitted from age. put grover machines on it,change the tail piece and ajustable bridge, Check the nut might want to replace that too, throw pickups of your choice in and you will have a really good jam guitar with a real Les Paul feel.
They are not easy to find. I myself would like to find another one and set it up different than the one I have now. I am not a lead guitarist but I keep messing with it. it's good stress relief. there are a lot of good copies out there, I guess,. This works for me. I have met two other people in the past who have hotrodded one and use it for their main stage axe along with their LP. Just a suggestion or a future guitar project. :smoke: :smoke: :scratch2:

the LP copy is Made by ASPEN. 70's copy a good road worthy guitar. Old hardware was taken off and replaced, I wasn't to keen on the worn gold plate. pickups are gibson do not remember any thing about type, but they put out. It was a good guitar before changes, now it's a real good guitar. Maybe not a gibson but guitar players who have played it liked it. One of the better copies at that time.

what do you think it is worth?. the LP has the chrome hardware and i have the nice hard shell case with the pink lining.I will have to pull out my receipts but i think i paid $1000.00 just for the amp.I am thinking i would use an acoustic guitar instead or trade for some mac equip.

aw dang its chrome..... lol well you could pitch it on ebay for a pretty penny, around here in canada guys are getting between 700-1000$ for the LP's, but i'm more interested in the amp, i'll take a look and see what its worth. If not i'll ask some of my buddies ad they're looking for nice amps nowadays

yeah i'm borke right now, os less you'd take 200 for the amp, you should really try HC or ebay, you could get pretty top dollar prices for those

sorry Rock I am seeing the guitar priced at around $700 without the hard shell case and the amp going for $500 to $600 and none of them are in even close to the condition of mine.If i put these up for sale (or trade for some mac gear) someone will get some pristine stuff.

700 is pretty low for the guitar, 'id try something around 1400-1700 for the pair

There are alot of Les Paul copies out there that are actually very good,
providing that you're handy with a soldering iron and change out the
stock pickups with Seymour Duncans or Dimarzio's.

Epiphone Les Pauls really aren't that bad but you need to stick with the ones
with the set neck....not bolt on! And usually the Korean models are well made.
It is kind of sad that American guitars are so pricey but it is difficult to
compete with the Asian market, where one division of the company pumps out
Les Paul copies and down the hall you've got the Nike factory.

I own a '75 Gibson Les Paul w/tobacco sunburst finish. This guitar plays like
butter. The frets are very fast almost like they aren't even there. Indeed, thats
why these guitars earned the name "fretless wonders". Even a mediocre guitar
player ( which I consider myself) can sound great! Once your fingers
start to carress the honduran mahogany, mother of pearl and then the whole
history of rock 'n roll seems to hit you, like....."BAM". I guess you gotta be there.

Anyway, thanks for reading my post it must seem boring unless your a diehard
Les PauL guy. Happy New Year! Yours in AK, Bill.
