Well, I went and looked on the site I purchased my digital camera from and I found they have some cheap DV cameras for sell.

So what do you think? I don't expect the quality to be great but if their better at taking vids then my digi cam I will be happy.

Any thoughts on the subject?

I am not familiar with any of those brands, but I have a Panasonic DV that I bought last year and I like it alot. Picture is great, it's pretty good in low light, the controls are easy to work and it has alot of nice features. I can get you the model number tonight if you like. The only thing I don't like about it is the sound; not much bass. I plan to replace the mics now that it's out of warranty. If you care about the sound, make sure you get a model that is stereo, some aren't and it takes some digging within the specs to find out. Mine is stereo.

Mustek is the only company I ever heard of, they make scanners. Personally, I'd stick to the name brands when it comes to something like that. No support.

Hmm...how about being directed to a USENET group that's loaded with flamers? HP does that. But they make great scanners (even if they DO tell you how to resurrect them on the website). All I see are most 4x and 5x parallel/SCSI models mostly (could that be because everybody is trying to resurrect the USB models)? :yikes:

As for DV, I wouldn't give the time-of-day to most "combo" cams. If you want a still camera, get a still camera and if you want video Panasonic is pretty good (they actually make broadcast formats-the "D" series) and Sony has that night vision feature that my friend showed me once that allows you to tape in low light (green though it comes out). I haven't glanced at one yet that had the promise of these new DVD recorders though. I am hoping that sometime soon nonvolatile memory will become advanced enough that it will hold 3+ hours of MPEG 4 video with stereo audio.
