went in to a music store today traded an old garnet 30 watt tube amp and a jbl k-140 for a nice old traynor yvm-1 which is 45-50 watts with two el34s

i went next door to the pawn shop and the guy was just putting an ibanez soundgear sr-500 on the wall, its nice but i've already got a great bass, i'm prolly gonna sell this one off, but it was a nice deal.

oh yeah, i'm using it basically as the prototype chassis for my custom amps as they're power output and supply seem to be totally unbeatable (this one still has original tubes) and the tone and such i will change, but nice big hammond transformers with 4,8,16 ohm, 4 12ax7's and 4 mic inputs on the back actually, as well as a bunch of line level outputs it'll be really really nice when done up.....

I did some bass gigs with an old Traynor YBA-1 bass head, 50W from a pair of EL34's. Played through an EV-loaded Music Man cab and another 1x15 cab...dang thing just oozed phatness. My flatwound-strung Precision had grease to spare through that rig...had that old-school R&B tone nailed. I loved it. :D

this is from the same era, same power output design a bit different preamp, same iron and tubes though, i'm using just about the same output for my amps though as they do not at all eat tubes in the slightest, and they break up nicely too when you overdrive them, wicked amps these old traynors are, i've also got a yba-3 that has 6550's in it and puts out 180-200 watts

hey 6550's are pretty scarce round here today, that lazaro is an awesome guy! he's a real interesting fellow. 6550's would be nice, but now i've gotta find you something else eh'....... hmmm there was a busted pair of telefunkens (tuner and power amp i think) at a pawn shop today but he wanted 50$ in broken condition, i wouldnt bite, and that sansui was gone when i went back to get it, oh well another day.
