For those of you living in a cave, here's sports update for ya. I doubt ESPN will be giving this much coverage but Canada won the world junior hockey tournament by disposing of those classless Russkies 6-1 in the gold medal game. In fact Canada was by far the best team there. They never trailed in any game, outscored the other teams 43-7, and pretty much waltzed to the gold medal. On a side note, with the tournament being held in N.Dakota scores of Canadian fans made it to the games. The Canadian fans drank more beer in 3 games then all the fans attending ALL the games for N.Dakota's NCAA team last season.

ESPN did cover some of the games. I don't watch hockey. when I watch TV, I generally prefer to stay awake. :D

BTW, I live in ND, where it is -24 degrees right now. (Real temp, not wind chill)
Thanks for spending money here!

Just for the record, Canadian teams own the Big 6 of hockey titles:

Men's Olympics
Women's Olympics
Men's World Championship
Women's World Championship
Men's World Cup
World Juniors

Major props to the Canadian Juniors, undefeated through the entire tournament, and only Slovakia managed to score against Canada, while at even strength, in the opener. Still lost to Canada, though. Canada then played 312+ minutes without giving up an even-strength goal, and outscored their opponents 41-7 for the tournament.

Woo-Hoo! With games like this, I don't miss the NHL.

I've never seen such a dominant team. Only when they were short handed did it appear to be competitive. The Canadians played clean, fast, skilled, exciting hockey. I'm already looking forward to watching next years all new team.

Nope, but this year, they bitch-slapped the Russians and stopped that 5-year streak dead in its tracks.

Canada last won this title in 1997. The Juniors were embarassed at the length of the 'drought'. Yeah, they should talk to Cubbies fans about a drought. Or Detroit Lions'! :D

Hey Thor here's a big F U to you and those Black Bears you root for. Yes the Yankees managed to win the World Juniors last year when their goalie stood on his head for the whole tournament and Canada scored on their own goal in the gold medal game. Canada had to settle for the silver for 3 yrs straight. Oh and how did the Yanks make out this year?? Oh yeah lost in OT to the Czechs and finished FOURTH.

Yep, we should of one it last year too. That team was almost as good as this years, but hey, that's why they play the game. The US team last year was good too. I had watched all of their games and when they got a chance they capitalized on it. And that's what happened in last years gold medal game, although it was a lucky bounce, but chance goes to the prepared.
The Canadian team this year was fast and they kept that tempo for the entire game. And some of the goals they scored where incredible a testiment to the skilled players on the team.
With the butt kicking Canada handed every team. I think this team redeemed our country from that most embarrassing loss last year.

Army, it's only 11 months of winter way up north. Around here, it's 9 months of winter, and three months of rough sledding. :D

It is documented tha UND fans cannot hold their liquor. Never approach a UND fan. Although nearsighted and short in stature, they are quick to anger and could easily bore you to death. GO STATE!
