I have a Akai GX 630 D open reel deck and it wont play,any ideas?

i just bought an akai gx-630D
good device but when the reel is not perfect flat it drags against the wood case :( the akai is in MINT condition with manual and 10 reels (scotch, blue ones from revox etc.)

Does it fast forward or reverse, please give a little more information? Does the capstan drive move?

YOu might want to look from the side , right side... to see that in play mode, the tape is feeding onto the take up reel in the MIDDLE of the reel.....if not..the reel tables need to be adjusted...or sometimes thin shim can achieve the same result.... blooeyz
