My 5000x just started slipping. Is there a certain place to "lube"? It appears to be slipping where the string is triple wrapped around the shaft from the tuning dial to the weighted fly wheel. Thanks :scratch2:

try treating the string with beezwax or just some parifin wax. Need to make it sticky on the pullys.

Thanx, I happen to have some beezwax. Refinished an old pool table last winter.

You need the reverse of "Lube", i.e. friction.
Did the beeswax idea work?
If not, the cord may have stretched. Can you tighten it up?
BTW, in my experience, three turns around the spindle is correct - I would not add more or they will be cramped.
Cheers,
Roger

Yes the beezwax worked fine. Thanks. Probably needs to be tightened. Will attempt that when it slips again. Also an observation, the Sansui 5000x pulls in and holds stations much better than my Marantz 2252B or 2250. To me it has a better sound also. Great receiver!!

The 5000X does not have the Loc/Dist switch on the back as did the 5000 and 5000A. My 5000A is much more sensitive than the 5000X I recently purchased of E-pay. I understand ( but may have been mislead ) that the Loc side of the switch merely runs through an additional resistor.

If someone has the repair manual and schematics, I would appreciate a confirmation on this. I would like to set the 5000X to "Dist". But the cautious side of my nature says don't f**k with something without a schematic.....

I have a repair manual for the 5000x. I will take a look and see. If there is a way to make it even more sensitive I would be interested in that also. I could copy my manaul if that would help you out.
