Just wanted to let everyone know that today there will be some behind the scenes server work done. At present, all data and programs are run off a single drive. The main SQL data base that holds all the forums data will be moved to a second hard drive. This will lower the access times and help to improve the forums perfomance. This is only the first step in making sure Audiokarma can continue to grow and not be bothered with slow downs or service interruptions.

I would assume it also decreases our vulnerabilities considerably as you now have two points not one and if the board server comes under assault, the other server's data isn't immediately affected, if at all. This is extremely good! You can stop the attack before it gets to harm our posts and it's easier to restore a board than our posts. Thanks Luther.

Since your running the server, what you might want to consider doing, is useing RAID, preferably RAID 5 with the server.


This wil DRASTICALLY increase the system performace, and the system will still boot in the event of a drive failure.

I administered a 10 disk raid server at one time, running mandrake 10.
