I was just wondering about the striking physical resemblance between Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. Does anybody else notice this besides me? I wanna make sure I'm not going nuts, lol! :nutz:

Well Charlie,
You are nuts, but on this one I think you have made an accurate observation of the similarities between these two actors.

Genetic dynasty. I think that you have discovered something. I think that Dr. Kildare (soap opera actor of the late 60's) figured out how to clone successful Hollywood actors 30 or 40 years ago. In some cases it works out well. In other, well you get Lindsey Lohan. Yikes

Oh I think that this would make a good Hollywood screen play.

mmm ... we need vampires, gratuitous sex, 3-D effects and James Cameron as the director!!!!

Side plot: over supply of brainless actors created the porn industry in the 80's.

Another side plot: Those exceeding large, perfectly round boobs are not implants ... but genetically engineered.

Sub-sub plot: Madonna is Marylin Monroe's clone, of course using Kennedy genetic material.

Two thoughts come to mind:

1. Is there some "secret" blood tie there? It certainly wouldn't be the first time such things have happened in Hollyweird. In fact, there is a long tradition in that highly incestuous industry of using stage names to hide blood ties (as well as having illegitimate children who wouldn't bear the name, anyway). Most people would be shocked to learn how inter-related most of the Hollyweird stars (and producers, directors, etc...) really are. It's a fairly small community that is reluctant to admit true outsiders.

2. Perhaps that look is just considered "handsome" or "attractive" by a lot of people? If so, then it would make sense to hire and promote actors who looked like that; they will be popular (because people like looking at them) and make more money for everyone.

In this particular instance, I'm inclined to think it is a case of #2.
But what do I know? I don't know either of these people personally, nor anything about their backgrounds (I don't particularly like either of them, although they are "okay" IMO.) Anything is possible. :dunno:

Brad Pitt keeps changing his appearance everytime I see a photo of him....
whereas Robert Redford maintains his appearance for decades.
Maybe Brad will find himself~~~~
Frankly ---I could give a $hit ---but just my 2 Cents.

Of course, Arkay you are completely correct.

Oh, another plot line for the movie, incestuous relationships produces actors that look like French royalty, and are vampires -but don't do it incorrectly and ... consequently ... create porn flicks - quite serendipitously.

Gee my complete lack of imagination clearly qualifies me as a Hollywood producer. I need to cast actors that look exactly like former successful actors - to attract hollywood cash. anyone know someone that looks like Lon Chaney or Marty Feldman?

No? How disappointing - I'm ruined.

I don't see the resemblance. But have you seen Robert Redford lately? Even he doesn't look like Robert Redford anymore.

In 1992? my GF took me to see " A river runs through it" I think Redford directed that movie. I had no idea who Brad Pitt was at that time, but I remember thinking that it must have been Redford's son.

I don't really see the Pitt Redford thing but I do see the Pitt/Del Toro resemblance. To me Del Toro looks like a Pitt thats been ridden hard and put away wet.

I don't know.

I always though Del Toro looked like a strung out Peter Jackson.

How about this one: I see a definite resemblance with Winona Ryder and Kiera Knightley.

In keeping with the logic of this thread, I'll submit this premise...

Robert Redford > 2 syllable first and last names
Brad Pitt > 1 syllable first and last names

Conclusion > Brad Pitt is 1/2 the actor Robert Redford is.:scratch2::smoke:

I don't need logic or mathmatics to reach that conclusion... :D

As for Knightly or Ryder, either will do.

Richard Simmons/Andreas Vollenweider

Neither is an actor, though Simmons, it could be argued, may be... The similarity is so freaky I couldn't resist.
