I just nabbed a G8700DB for 232 clammies!!! I hope it turns out good, if not I'll get it up and running in no time.

Funny, I was just selling one of my 9090db's and thinking about what to buy next. The 9090db is sweet inside and out but I have 2. Now I have a new toy to play with. I sold all my really big sansuis a year or so ago. I knew sooner or later I'de be tempted to grab another big one and restore it. But what speakers to hook it up to??? Oh the excitement is too much for my little heart to stand..WOO HOO!!!

Found on the web: G-8700DB, Production Year 1978-1980, Retail Price new $920.00

My service manual says 160WPC, and I worked on a blown one 6 or 7 months ago. IMHO, it lacked the build quality of the earlier units (G-8000/G-9000), but I have to say that it certainly looked nice and the sound was just fine.

Hello blurghy, could you tell me your impression about the combination of your Sansui receiver with the JBL 4311 speaker?? is it not too boomy?!

I am waitting for a 9090 (non db) and my speakers are the JBL L-100 but i can' t wait to hear the result!!...

Have a good day...

I'm not a big 9090DB fan though they sound wonderful. They are a bit too bass heavy for me. I prefer the G series DC receivers. But you will probably love the combination with the L 100's. The L100 is basically the home version of the 4311b studio monitor. I have a pair and the sound is pretty much equal. They sound superb Though the cabinets in mine are in pretty beat up looking.

You will be absolutely thrilled with the sound I guarantee.
