there I was, been sitting on the auction watch list for days, xmas was coming, hoping Santa would grace me with some fine old Sansui gear.
The time came and lo and behold I bid at the last possible moment and eureka I got the pair!!!
A mere $80 too, the description showed they needed some tlc, but said they worked fine...from the pics it was obvious they could use a through cleaning.
Xmas came, still no package on the front doorstep, I emailed, they said they had had a preemie childbirth, so I replied take care of the important things first, and keep me posted.
Mid Janurary rolled around, I emailed for a status report, no answer, did this about once a week till Feb. 1.
I called then, the phone rang till a machine picked it up, left a message..did this for 3 days with no reply.Told them to call collect if that would help...
Called the police in the town where they live, they said make a report to my local cops, did so Fri...
Now we will see what happens...

Hows their feedback? :scratch2: Any clues there?
Wish you luck towards getting it resolved.Isn't there an ebay action to take when merchandise doesn't show?

Contact ebay and paypal? pronto. Like, right now. Good idea contacting the police.

In the future, I would allow a week max for problems. After that, ask for your money to be returned. No matter what their problem is, it's your money they've got.

I have a very old Zenith Trans Oceanic portable short wave (tubes) radio. It weighs like 120 lbs and is considered a "portable" (actually, it is maybe 20 lbs with the battery). Mine is probably the oldest surviving example in this particular model run. Wanted to replace some broken parts on it, and saw one for sale on Ebay (Ebay always has lots of these things for sale). The description and photo said it was a pristine example and worked perfectly. Photos showed a clean front and a clean interior.

When I got it, it was an absolute piece of junk--tried to throw it away, but the garbage can ducked at the last possible minute. I emailed the guy and he stated that it must have been broken up in transit (I didn't insure it). He, of course would not accept responsibility. However, I had proof that what he described and the photo that he provided were not of the one that I had bought. The one on Ebay showed an interior without the very rare and expensive export transformer for 220V. The one he sent had the transformer. The joke was on him. :lmao:

That sucks. I have had 3 different items that I ahve sold over the years get screwed up in transit.
1 A Nikko Alpha 200 Amp - a real sweetheart
2 A pair of Dynaco SPeakers
3 A Pair of Pioneer SPeakers.

Everytime I ate the cost before even thinking about how I was going to deal with insurance. That really sucks when someone screws you for a few measly bucks on ebay. Its not even the money that pisses you off as much as it is their sheisty disrespectful deeds.

Man I hate to hear that. How can anyone take a persons money and give them nothing in return? You should go to ebay and paypal. The only problem is that I think there may be a 30 day time limit after the auction to file claims and seek monetary relief.

Butthat does not mean that Ebay bay and paypal cannot take punitive actions against them

Thanks for the moral support..I waited too long for ebay, and looking at their failure to deliver policy all that happens is the seller gets a demerit, they have to get a bunch of strikes against them before anything happens, I don`t use paypal, I sent a postal money order as the seller requested.
As far as ebay is concerned anything after 60 days in tough luck even giving a demerit.
Any one live in CT? suffield to be exact...an AK forum member on the front porch with a determined look in his eye might help....too far for me to go, I am 35 miles north of seattle.
Maybe the police will help, but the officer that took the report did not seem very positive about it.
It`s just a shame that anyone would defraud somebody like this, really pisses me off, they probably gave $5 for the set at someones yard sale, or stole it...

Using a US postal money order could be a good thing. Make this a Federal offence of interstate mail fraud. I'd contact the post office.

What is the item so we can all beware of these creeps?

The item # was 5734337463, seller was 1219jr, she had really good feedback when I bought the item, then went downhill fast, she had a bunch of fishing lures listed, but now all is gone, and she has delisted herself...
I emailed ebay but have little expectation about help there, with the shipping it was $131 total, not a huge amount but it really pisses me off when I get ripped off.
I have never had a problem like this on ebay, but I guess it was only a matter of time.
The cops say give it about 3 weeks and check on it, and you can bet that I will follow up....
I will post the results here as a learning experience for all as I get them.

The US Post Office and the Feds usually take a very dim view of mail fraud and I understand it is one thing they are very aggressive about. By all means see your Postmaster and keep pursuing it.

I had something happen like that twice, and both times,I listen to their hard-luck stories(theres always a hard luck story)comiserate, then tell them take your time, but on the 30th day since winning the auction,I will contact ebay/amazon and send them all our corespondence, and my pay pal confirmation of receipt. Its funny, both times I got my money back on the 29th or 30th day.Probably just a coincidence :naughty:

well, maybe the legal action has helped, she said she shipped, and the confirmation number she gave me actually shows a package mailed from CT due here in about a week...if it isn`t a box of bricks then maybe, just maybe I will get my tuner and amp.....
more later

Wow...took a look at the auction...no wonder no one bid. Filthy-looking, but who knows, they might look pretty good cleaned up.

BTW, WD-40 does great on those black Sansui faces. Get a clean soft cloth, spray the WD-40 onto the cloth, and scrub the faceplate. Cleans nicely.
