If so, I need a favor. I just found an old home video on Beta. Any chance you could record this to VHS or DVD? I'd be more than willing to cover costs, or offer something up in trade.
C'mon - somebody around here must have one.
Thanks.

I have a Sony SL-HF900, connected for dubbing to a Sony SLV-900HF VHS unit.

Mine DIED about a month, ago, after a power surge/outage.
Now, the tuner is DEAD.I had been using it to patch audio to my stereo from the cable/tv system, but it will no longer pass a signal, SO I had to put my 8mm. vcr in tis place.
I may try to fix it, or else, i'll have to find another one somewhere. It is a superbeta hi-fi, and I will not have a non-hi-fi model.

I had one of that VHS model gave it to my XGF and now have the 595 with better features :) Somehow that relationship worked if only for an upgrade :sigh:

Jeff, I got a SLHF400 SuperBeta here, that I could quickly patch into the VHS unit right next to it in the rack... PM me.
Regards,
Gordon.

Echo and Gordon,
Thanks guys. I'll take you up on the offer. Probably Gordon, as we are closer. I may even bring it in person to Audio Atlanta, as I'd like to take a look around. I'll be over there next month. And I'm in no hurry on the tape. I don't even know what is on it.
Thanks guys.
Jeff

Got a Sanyo VCR 5400 that I rebuilt (not as good as Sony's Beta, but decent). But it seems you already got business taken care of. Pulled the thing out of my attic a year ago. It had been up there for 14 years, still worked when I took it down. Amazing since it's been through -10 degrees to at least 150 degrees over a period of 14 years. The tapes were with it too and also survived (some dating back to 1982). Belts lasted until 6 months after I pulled it out (with frequent use). So I rebuilt it, 4 belts and a new idler assembly.
Just thought I'd relish in it all. Greatly surpasses VHS, more durable (if the tapes survived), but didn't last long (the Beta format). Not to brag, but how many 16 year olds (or even their parents) know what Beta even is? :scratch2:

Any of you have a cleaning tape. I have a SL-2700 that works well and no way to clean it I opened the top and see a PC board over the heads and am afraid to take it out as I might make the heads out of alignment.
