View Full Version : Mystery Tape Deck #2 twintwelve1484 02-11-2005, 12:06 PM Someone else had a mystery tape deck a week or two ago... Anyone sharp enough to know what this is? Vintage TX 02-11-2005, 12:08 PM Pioneer ? :scratch2: Unican_Eric 02-11-2005, 12:39 PM Radio Shack?? dshoaf 02-11-2005, 12:42 PM due to the flourscent bar meters. Judging by the few knobs/switches, it would be near the bottom of the line, too. twintwelve1484 02-11-2005, 01:39 PM No correct answers yet... RuSsMaN 02-11-2005, 01:42 PM Small boat anchor? twintwelve1484 02-11-2005, 01:45 PM Small boat anchor? Not heavy enough. Unless you mean literally....an anchor for a small boat. Very small. gonzothegreat 02-11-2005, 01:53 PM I'll guess Sanyo or possibly Sankyo. I think I've seen Teacs that look similar but its been awhile... twintwelve1484 02-11-2005, 03:37 PM another view... NoTransistors 02-11-2005, 04:38 PM I had an Akai with a beveled glass door, but you did ask "Anyone sharp enough?" So another guess is Sharp. Tony75 02-11-2005, 04:40 PM How about a Toshiba or a Hitachi? From some of the angles it looks a fairly cheap deck with that perspex cover over things, but cheap decks generally did not have lighted wells. Maybe an ETC brand, they made OEM for a lot of brands in this country that did not produce audio equipment after the tariffs were removed on imported gear (such as AWA, Kriesler) Tony surfdoc37 02-11-2005, 04:46 PM No I'm going to go back to the Pioneer. This looks nearly IDENTICAL to my first deck, a Pioneer purchased around 1982 from Best in CA. Same meters, switches, dials, etc. If not branded Pioneer it looks like a deck made by them but branded for someone else. twintwelve1484 02-11-2005, 04:52 PM Well, kids, I'll give. It's a ProjectONE FLD-4050. The only thing that's recognizable to me as being anyone's is the flouroscan display, which is EXACTLY like that of the Luxman K-118 that I used to own. So it could be that whoever made Luxman decks made this. jwrags 02-11-2005, 04:56 PM Onkyo, judging by the way the display glass is screwed on. John axel 02-11-2005, 05:16 PM twintwelve1484, same first thought I had - Luxman K5A... It ain't Luxman but the parts, design, dimensions used are exactly similar as a K5A... RocknRoll 02-11-2005, 05:17 PM I was gonna say Onkyo or Project One because the first deck was an oddball Concept and I have a Project one and they look alot like Pioneer made these. bordeno 02-11-2005, 09:05 PM Stab in the dark, but ...... Akai Michael Scarpit 02-13-2005, 08:54 PM Someone else had a mystery tape deck a week or two ago... Anyone sharp enough to know what this is? TEAC? |
