If anyone can help me diagnose a problem with a Chevy van turn signals and brake lights, please stop by chat. I've been working for about 5 hours today in single digit temps trying to get this figured out :worried:

Do you have any service literature for it...I don't have a Chevy but have used the Haynes manual with success on my Dodge to check out the schematics of the wiring...found some fuses that looked good but actually were open. I would check for battery voltage on both sides of all fuses...also all of the turn signal current flows through the hazard warning light switch; have had some cases of dirty contacts in these switches causing no turn signal operation.

What is doing or not doing?

Damn, if I knew about this earlier I could have looked up a schematic at work and sent it to you.

What year is it?

So, did you get it figured out? Hope it worked out.

What year and model.....what are the symptoms? Often a LOT of turn signal problems are poor ground connections or funky bulb sockets. Other areas to check are the turn signal switch itself, flasher can, brake light switch etc etc.

But without any particulars it's all guess work on my behalf.

Turns out that after a trip to an auto electrical specialist it's got a short in the right rear pillar. Got to remove some carpet to get to it and repair it. I would have found it over a couple Budweisers on a nice spring day, but screw this arctic tundra shit....

Thanks a TON guys :thmbsp:

If you are lacking brake lamps (but the CHSL works), your switch in the column is likely shot. Don't know about vans, but Cavaliers have a recall for this issue I believe.
