I've got to drop the gas tank on the wife's Blazer. I'm not going to screw around and try to undo the nuts up above the tank strap mounting holes. Just going to cut the straps and replace with new. I found what looks like a good deal on them but I'm not sure if they're the right ones. See here:

They say "1983-1995 CHEVROLET BLAZER S10 13.2 / 20 Gal., 100.5'" Wheelbase, Top Star Only (SPI#ST07)
83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95 CHEVROLET BLAZER S10"

So what is Top Star and what do I look for to see if my vehicle is this?

I'd call GM, or your local gas-tank repair shop.

Aw heck, grab a can of that Great Stuff expanding foam from Home Depot and out it right along the leak area (even if it's a seam). Chit will expand and dry right in there and will seal tight as a drum.....did my 72 Impala with that stuff many moons ago and it never leaked again!

I think the leak is the rubber fuel line exiting the the pump dead center on top of the tank. It only leaks when the engine is running.

I just when throught he same thing a few months ago on my 89 S10.Mine was leaking from the top as well.Figured I could just repair the line.Started pulling on the line, mistake!Had to get it towed it to a garage.I needed a new tank... and a sending unit.Top portion of the tank was totally rotted including the sending unit.

So much for an cheap, easy fix...... :sigh:

Hmmm... She's crusty but a goood 4WD truck and runs great. I'd like to save it. Luckily it's off the road now so I've got time to tinker with it. So I might as well go ahead and cut the straps and see what's up with it.
