A CTC-2B RCA color tv chassis has come up for bid. This is for the model: 21-CT-55 upright console produced in very late 1954 and 1955. The chassis is in Ca.

Shame it doesn't come in the original box. :(

No box, and the reserve is a little high. But if someone can pick it up locally and save the shipping; the parts might come in handy. You don't hear much about the 21-CT-55's Kind of the forgotten set. I can't remember, does anyone own one of these ::dunno:

I think quite a few 21-CT-55's went into color monitor service in the early color studios/control rooms. I've never seen one in person.

You're right Rob. I remember a great front cover from a 1955 issue of Radio & Television News had a couple of 21CT55's in the control room of the then new NBC Burbank color studios. I have the magazine someplace around here. Also, I see that John Folsom may own one of these sets. It's posted on Steve McVoy's site under early color tv.

Steve:

I think that this is the magazine cover to which you are referring. Too bad that chassis doesn't include the yoke and convergence assemblies.

Hi Steve. I was talking to Tom H. at the ETF Convention, and he said he picked up a CTC-2N attached to a 21AXP. I said surely it must be a 5N, But he said it was definitely a 2 and not a 5. After describing the chassis to several attendees, they concurred with me that it had to be a 21-CT-55. Got it for a song, and says it's in great shape! Phil

Reeferman,

Looks like you've been spending time in the AK archives. Good to see those 21-CT-55's are still showing up. Thanks for the update.
