No disrespect, but the hell w/Grumpy-check out the lt green tank top behind him...Yeah, baby !!<Grin> Seriously-Great shots, there, Dave !! One I couldn't figger out-the 1st one-izzat a Rambler wagon ? Was this event held in Cobo Hall? -Sandy G.

I agree, only as far as the softail goes.

I don't see Dave on a proper rigid - he needs the rear suspension for a comfy ride. Other than that, straight old school - front spoke wheel, no front brake, panhead or knucklehead motor, jockey shift, kick start, and ape hangers. I like the blue, but with pearl pinstriping, and a tank with custom pearl flames on it. Add a big, angled sissy bar on the rear, yeah.

Yeah, that's what I see.

Cheers,
Russ

Nah Rigids ain't really for me. That bike was about 2 sizes to small for me. Now a springer is what I lusted for since they made then available again but I would gladly settle for a Dresser.

Sandy.

IIRC the first pic was a 60 rambler wagon. pic does not do it justice.

Here's a couple more

One of Barris and one of his creations.

What was that Cad, a '51,'52, or '53? They were all extremely voluptuous cars-heard 'em described once as looking like "fat girls in strapless gowns". Kinda unkind, but, yeah, that's about right. I always loved the 1954-56 models. They just always said "CADILLAC"-especially the '56 Sedan De Ville. The '57-58 models looked like aberrations, and then we get back to the "Screw you, I have money & I'll flaunt it" look of the '59-'60 models. -Sandy G.

Cant remember since all the cars kind of blurred into one by the end. I think it was a 52 but maybe it was newer..

Everywhere this one goes its the show favorite. A very emotional truck and very hard to get near.

Pictures or video do this truck no justice.

GREAT pixs !!

Would like to see the truck in person. Very cool artwork.

Is that Punkers car? I know he had some like it.

Isn't the Kaiser a Darrin? Or something like that?

Our local show is in a month or so. Getting the hot rod fever again!

I agree with the no front brake, why in the world they spend $5k manufacturing one off billet front wheel then hiding the with ugly front brakes is beyond me. As a matter of fact I hate any cables showing as well, the english dude Russel Mitchell at Exile cycles makes bikes that have no cables showing anywhere and it looks sweet as hell. Indian Larry (RIP) used to make no front brake ones too. Seeing big ass brake and clutch cables makes a motorcycle look like my sons 18 speed mountain bike.

Nope that was just a Cuda for punker. His was black and a real TA. I think its a Kaiser but forgot to shoot the name plate as I like to so i can remember.

Warm weather is still a little ways off here but i can't wait.

Grumpy, yes it's a Kaiser, buy I think the body was made by Devlin, but not sure. The doors slide back into the body.

Barris is still making customs! That one is typical Barris.

CORRECTION It's a Darrin

... Sorry no Miata's

Ok I'll help you out here. This was at last weekends show here in San Antonio. It belongs to a member of our Miata club and is street driven. The paint is some trick fusion stuff with prisms in the mix that refract light, so it changes color depending on how light hits it. Also that supercharger is not factory. :naughty:

Sweet looking car ! I think thats a Ford color they used on Mustangs. Very expensive stuff !

Sandy G

It was a Kaiser Darrin, designed by "Dutch" Darrin, who was a 1940s-50s customising designer. The doors that slid back into the fenders were VERY Hot stuff-even if they weren't entirely practical.-Sandy G.

I'm just wondering why they didn't sell a chit-load of those AMX's. I guess they never made very many, so they didn't sell very many. Sure was a nicer looking car than the Javelin IMO. And the later Javelins, fuggeddaboutit....

Did Chip Foose have a car entered in the Riddler this year? On that "Rides" show on TLC he was working on a car for the Riddler but in the end decided to wait till the next Riddler to enter it, I wonder if this years is the Riddler he was entering or skipping????

grumpy
03-06-2005, 10:56 PM
Did Foose build the Sic Fish or was that Troy P ? If it was Foose then the silver Cuda would have prolly been his entry.

From Street rodder dot com:

Ken Reister of Littleton, Colorado with his Chip Foose designed and built 1936 Ford roadster proved to much for the competition and, hence, was awarded the 2005 Don Ridler Memorial Award for the shows best vehicle, first time shown. Congratulations are in order for Ken, Chip and the rest of the crew that brought this outstanding roadster to “life.”

This car is amazing. Click here and scroll down
