The first issue is that when i turned the FM on today it was fine for about 5 min, then just went off. Power was still on, the radio just went silent. Then about 10 seconds later, it clicked like it does when you first power up and everything was fine. It did that off and on for about 10 min. So i thought i would try the cd player and played fine for about an hour and nothing happened. I have it on FM again and it has been for about 30 min and it hasn't dont it since! Anyone have any ideas?

Another issue is that the right channel(or right side on the unit) is about twice as hot as the left! Its not smokin hot but there is a differance! The left is almost cold and the right is hot. I was thinkin that it may just be too close to the entertainment center so i moved it away about 5 inches. Still could be what it is, but i thought i would ask. Im going to move it on top of the entertainment center see if it helps.

Hi Ian, If you haven't seen this yet... give it a read. here. (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5634&highlight=offset) As far as the tuner, I had a CR-1020 that did the same thing. Only happened twice, like it was a relay that wasn't engaging. :scratch2:

yeah all thats techno mumbo jumbo to me!! I dont know shit when it comes to multimeters and testing that kinda stuff! Lucky for me i have a friend who is certified Pioneer repair man and will take a look at it. Im going to be right there learning ofcourse. He makes me fix most of my stuff anyways, he just tells me what to do! BTW, it just cut out on me again during this post so i just shut it off!

Bias is misadjusted, hence the hot heatsink.

The sound cutting in and out is the protection circuitry, or possibly the low voltage regulator that supplies the voltage to the protection circuitry. Both need to be checked, as well as offset.

I still think im going to let my Pioneer dude figure it out! i dont wanna take a chance in messing around and screw something up! Besides i dont have much time anymore.... working over time building those damn H2's you all are buying!!!

Neither problem is a real big deal, and if your buddy knows his stuff he should make short work of it

I had that cut-in, cut-out or vice-versa on a 950. Turned out to be loose connections on the Tone Control Board. I had to solder all those damn wire wrap connections.
