I was playing an album and I bumped the lid while it was playing. The lid slamed down and made the album skip all the way to the end. So I restarted the album and it did the same and now any album I put on as soon as the needle comes down it skips all the way to the end of the album. What could of messed up? It acts as if theres not enough weight on the needle. I dont see how that could of been changed though.

Sounds like the counterweight on your tone arm got bumped, so you might have to reset your tracking force.

Look closely...I'll bet the stylus is, like, gone man....

Ah, good idea, I didn't think of that one. Sometimes I miss the obvious.

Echowars, you are correct. Could you recommend a place to order a new stylus. Thats the needle and cartridge, correct? Its an Empire 2000E. If that tells ya anything.

Stylus is the part that inserts into the cartridge. I wouldn't know how to test your cartridge but Echowars will.

I cant figure out how to get the stylus out. It seems to be mounted in there awfully tight. I pulled the front plastic piece off, but the stylus remains in there. I left it at that point. It seems just as cheap to by a new cartridge and all.

Gently grip the cantilever assembly with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it out of the cartridge body. You can get the replacement stylus assembly for $30, or spend a bit more for a new cartridge. You can get high quality cartridges for under $100 - for example, the Shure M97XE is a very nice and costs about $90.
