Tons of power and decent sounding (I've had one). Great for 2ch, or as sub amps.

I picked up a 750C a month back that is rated at 360 wpc into 4 ohms. My brother is using it to run a couple pair of PA speakers in his bedroom!!
He had been using a Hitachi SR-2004 and finds the BGW just as powerfull.
BTW I paid 200 CND for mine.

BGW was my previous employer. They went belly up and are now owned by ATI (Amplifier Technology Inc).
The older amps that were designed by Brian (founder of BGW), are great sounding amps and a real bargain if you can find them. Brian passed away a few years back and the son and wife took over. They designed a series of amps a few years ago that are not even close to the ones the old man designed. I think the 250D was part of their older Professional series, but I don't remember much about that exact model.

I agree - the 250D and 750C are very nice amps. The new models using the "ultracase" output devices are "OK" -- but they are certainly not in the league of the early BGW designs. I have a few BGW 8000 and BGW 250D amps -- the older 250D wins hands down for build quality and sonic characteristics.

Hey Bookasan,
Did you used to live in Bellflower? I lived there from 85-87 and a fellow in the back duplex worked there and told me a bit about BGW. IIRC, its been a long time, he worked in QC and said they had some dynamite products with pretty good customer service, although they didn't have a lot of stuff coming back unless it was abused.
Anyone know anything about the BGW 400D?
Regards,
Bart

I couldn't agree more. The older mid 80's (you would know for sure) sound great in home sound systems and are not your typical narrow frequency response "sound reinforcement" amps.
I have an absolutely mint 320B that I really don't use all the much but I think It could be my main amp, it sounds that good and of course it's bulletpoof. I'm looking for a big one like the 750 if I can find one that is mint. My 320B came out of a church...

Never lived in Bellflower. I was only at BGW for about a year in 2002, and I left a couple of months before they sold the company. I lived in Studio City at the time and it was about an hour and half drive to Hawthorne each way. That got old quick!
I would see amps come back for service that were 30 years old and only needed minor repair to get them back up and running. Most who owned them never wanted to let them go. The were really some well built amps.
