Hi
I am looking to purchase an entry level AV receiver. Was recommended the Marantz SR4300.

The amp was quite impressive, and at this price range was the only one with all the decoders for dolby digital ex discrete, prologic II, DTS, Neo6 ...etc

Was told that this AV amp was also quite suitable for music and home theater.

I am not talking about top end audiophile quality type of sound for music but was hoping that it would at least be decent with sufficient mid range and tight bass.

I am intending to run this with the paradigm titans as fronts, the paradigm pdr-10 subwoofer and a polk audio CS-150 center speaker.

Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

I have a couple year old Marantz sr5000 with dts and dolby digatal also. Its much like the new except the newer ones have better A/D converters and more power and I'm very impressed with the Marantz sound. It is much more musical then most of the A/V receivers on the Market much better then the Sony/pioneer /kenwood ect...
I compared mine to my freinds Denon and they sounded about the same to movies but for music CDs the Marants had a much nicer more musical sound.
To beet the sound of a Marantz home theater reciever you have to spend alot more money and go with a B&K

I got rid of my Marantz SR-5000. One of my many A/V mistakes:mad:

I don't own or plan on owning an AV reciever but do check them out. For people that have to spend carefully the only gear that seems to crawl out of the pond with the rest of the moderatly priced gear that I have listened to have been Marantz and Yamaha.
My father has been using Denon for the last decade or so and would probably differ with me, but that is why there is more than one brand.
