Parky50 03-27-2005, 12:20 AM I've actually seen polls on this very subject... lol The Who's Roger Daltrey (yeaaahhh) scream in "Won't get fooled again" came in top's by a nice margin by the general masses... I alway's thought Judas Priest's Rob Halford had the best pipes for an all out, belting scream... IMHO (of course) Filmboydoug 03-27-2005, 12:23 AM The Who's Roger Daltrey (yeaaahhh) scream in "Won't get fooled again" came in top's by a nice margin by the general masses... Ding ding ding. Other than the fact that the mic was so over-loaded that it's like listening to ice-picks in the ears, yeh no doubt............... mhardy6647 03-27-2005, 07:37 AM "Won't Get Fooled Again" CarlV 03-27-2005, 09:21 AM I alway's thought Judas Priest's Rob Halford had the best pipes for an all out, belting scream... Carl gator 03-27-2005, 09:48 AM Wilson Pickett does pretty good job on 'Hey Jude', don't you think? tentoze 03-27-2005, 09:55 AM Wilson Pickett does pretty good job on 'Hey Jude', don't you think? Indeed he do, with Brother Duane's screaming guitar in the background. grumpy 03-27-2005, 10:15 AM I am partial to Alice coopers scream. ala STEVEN ! Creepy ! :) Paul Di'anno All else are amateurs Rob Halford Never satisfied ! man no one can scream like him Ian Gilan's Lazy is a hard one to top. Reel 2 Reel 03-27-2005, 10:43 AM Ian Gilan's Lazy is a hard one to top. Ya beat me to it!... And it might not be the best..but...Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) ...'Careful With That Ax Eugene!...... styler 03-27-2005, 10:59 AM Ozzy on Sabbath's :D War Pigs Toasted Almond 03-27-2005, 01:11 PM "Screamin" Jay Hawkins wasn't named that for nothing. His "I Put a Spell on You" is a damn classic. At some shows he was carried onstage in a casket. This of course, was LOOONG before it was cool to be nuts. A true original if I ever heard/saw one. The babe horn player from Sly & The Family Stone had a pretty good set of pipes too. Cindy or Cynthia. Andyman 03-27-2005, 01:41 PM It's been awhile, but I think Ian Gillian had another bunch of goodies in "Child in Time" from Deep Purple in Rock. But "Won't Get fooled" was the first I thunk of. EchoWars 03-27-2005, 04:28 PM What about the scream on Joe Walsh's 'So What?', after the guy does the short 'doo-wop' thing? I can't even think of the song that opens for... e2e4c7c5 03-28-2005, 12:27 AM I've actually seen polls on this very subject... lol The Who's Roger Daltrey (yeaaahhh) scream in "Won't get fooled again" came in top's by a nice margin by the general masses... That's who(no pun intended :lmao: ) I would vote for, especially from 'The Kids Are Alright' soundtrack!! Mr. MoJoRisin' was awesome too!! :thmbsp: Johnny 03-28-2005, 04:39 AM grumpy, good call with the Paul D - Running free baby !!! An album with some exceptional wailing - Judas Priest "Unleashed In The East" ! Quite possibly my favorite album of all time. He may be disqualified because hes not really "rock" - more "hardcore" But hands down (and I've pretty much heard them all) NOBODY screams like Bill Crooks. Tom Araya of Slayer - May be a turn off, but we are talking screamers here. If you've ever heard Philip Anselmo " Fucking Hostile" - nuff said. Free cd to the chap that knows the group Bill Crooks.....er, "sings" for :) J bignfat 03-28-2005, 06:56 AM My vote goes to rob halford Song "Victim of changes" Album "unleashed in the east" BIGNFAT jerrymrc 03-28-2005, 11:51 AM How about ALOT of screaming? Axl Rose on Sweet Child O' Mine. You don't know whether you want to shoot the guy to put him out of his misery :thumbsdn: , or to pat him on the back for a job well done. :thmbsp: VinylHanger 03-29-2005, 12:56 AM Yep, Axel rocks, but though not a true scream, It is hard to find someone who belts it out like Ann Wilson on Crazy on You, when she kicks in, it is nearly a scream. darthm00by 03-29-2005, 01:32 AM Yep, Axel rocks, but though not a true scream, It is hard to find someone who belts it out like Ann Wilson on Crazy on You, when she kicks in, it is nearly a scream. I was thinking Heart too but i wanted to go out on a limb and mention GnR :guitar: Don C 03-29-2005, 10:01 AM I have a CD by Pat Travers, Sof hard knocks. At the beginning of a son gcalled Whacha gonna do without me, he goes AAAAAUUUGGGGHHHH-SHUTUP. Then they start the song, which kicks ass. I always liked that part. Photobitstream 03-29-2005, 10:06 AM Don't know if it qualifies as best, but Candy Givens did a lot of screaming on the two Zephyr albums in the early '70s. Tommy Bolin played lead guitar with Zephyr before he went solo then joined James Gang. glen65 03-29-2005, 10:43 AM An early 90s band "Steelheart" You wont see many people able to do karaoke of these guys. Heres some sample clips. check out the song " never let you go" http://www.mp3.com/albums/15286/summary.html botrytis 03-29-2005, 10:46 AM I agree with Grumpy - Listen to Halford scream on the Judas Priest LP, "Sad Wings of Destiny". Man can he scream!!!! Dave fropiler 03-29-2005, 11:48 AM My wife has always said early VH/w David Lee Roth had some of the best sexy screams out there. In particular, right at the end of "Push Comes to Shove" off of Fair Warning. Jace 03-29-2005, 12:29 PM I'd say Daltrey's Won't get fooled scream! diamonddave 03-29-2005, 04:50 PM A great scream can be heard on "Crying in the Rain" by Whitesnake. Another scream which I think is the best is "See you in Hell" by a 80's hard rock band called Grim Reaper. The scream at the end lasts for a good 20 seconds, by far the longest I've ever heard. Larry 03-29-2005, 07:51 PM A pretty obscure Michigan band called Savage Grace - the ending of All Along the Watch Tower, features a rather lengthy scream by Al Jacquez that is a killer when playing it loud. Larry Gene Simmons 03-30-2005, 12:45 PM Sebastian Bach from Skid Row. TVTeufel 03-31-2005, 10:59 PM [QUOTE=Toasted Almond]"Screamin" Jay Hawkins wasn't named that for nothing. Yup, I'll second that emotion - no contest, except most young'uns have never heard of "Screamin' Jay". Of course, I've never heard most of what they've heard either, so it's a draw. Ron. dingus 03-31-2005, 11:36 PM Sam Kinison's cover of Wild Thing, end of discussion. Tubejunke 04-01-2005, 12:43 AM Aurthur Brown "The Crazy World Of Aurthur Brown". Lots of screaming about flames and fire, very spooky psycedellic album from '68 I believe. One cut "Fire" actually was a hit and still sees airplay. I have always thought it was amazing that such a dark, spooky album would have been popular in the happy hippie days. If you dig heavy keyboards, psychedellic maddness, and a touch of evil.
