This came on a Dual CS08 with 1/2" cart adapter sled.

No numbers on it at all. So other than MM I have no idea what this is. It was an entry level table.

Any ideas? Stylus replacements?

It's an MI, actually. Probably F/FF15 MkII family or a VMS5E MkII.

Ausgezeichnet!

Thank you for the info, Manfred. Looks like I can still find VMS styli for this cart.

F/FF15... the nose up in the slot ...
guess VMS wouldnt have it (the three VMS20E or ED MKII or VMS3MKII I have don't have the nose...)

Ah,
Thanks for the detailed pic analysis. Again, looks to be generic stylus available.

the styli bodies have different profiles, i'll make a schematic pic of the ones i own...
I Guess in Ur Slot only fit profiles of the yello kind (which is not marked, can't telll a type) ... I can't tell off the pic if the rounded sides are in yours or not...
Maybe Lini knows more about the profiles of the guiding pin ... from outside the carts look the same for me.

The VMS20EO MKII is an excellent cart... original stylus is close to 100€, nude ellyptical diamond...

p.s.: its EO, not ED

p.p.s.: The FF15D Mk II is sperical

Excellent. :music:

There are original FF15D Mk II styli available online, but I cannot find any technical information on the "D" model. Do you know if it was elliptical or conical?

The NF15D MkII was a conical one - but iirc that was a special Dual version that won't fit to your body. Wouldn't really recommend that for a Dual x08 with ULM arm anyway, though.

Thanks for all the help, gentlemen!

The CS508 will be sporting a P mount adapter as the 1/2" cart sled has broken tabs and I doubt I will find another one. So it will go back on the head with some silicon adhesive. Once I have the belt and all is well, it will be heading for a new home.

This appears to be an Ortofon FF 15 XE. Back then, my budget cartridge of choice. They sounded excellent and tracked even loudly cut grooves at 1.8 grams.

Last year I bought a NOS FF15XE Mkll and the cart. is identical to the one shown. Though the stylus work fine in a VMS cart. I broke a headshell wire and moved the stylus to another headshell with a cart. without the nub and I detected no difference. I bought a NOS stylus from the bay for $37 so that I would have a spare in reserve.
