The Mysterious Production of Eggs by Andrew Bird, released this year on Righteous Babe-- what a fascinating, completely unusual suite of songs that use Bird's whistling, guitar and violin and glockenspiel and electronics in a most uh....idiosyncratic way. i mean, really astounding arrangements that just make you go, Holy Smokes! he was the fiddle guy at one time in the (to me) detestable Squirrel Nut Zippers, but he obviously was just gigging with those guys, because this is some of the most original, gorgeous stuff i've come across in some time....if you haven't heard, check it out

Amen. One of the finer releases so far this year.
