Only live game I saw was the Angels against maybe Baltimore?. Very fun, It was a few years ago and I got to see Eddie Murray which was a lifelong dream.
Crap, I looked up his stats, it was more than just a few years ago, sheesh, I'm getting old.

Talk about OLD, I remember when the Angels were called the Los Angeles Angels the first time around back in the early 60s!!!

What a win! Bartolo Colon pitches in mid-season form to start the year, and K-Rod closes out a close 3 to 2 game for "just another Halo victory".

One week later, and 8 games into the season, the Los Angeles Angels are 5-3. Bats finally seemed to pick up steam today and yesterday, but the pitching is hitting some bumps. The 'pen will probably even out though, but I don't really have any positive feelings of our starting staff yet.

Angels 13 Rangers 8 - tonights game turned out to be pretty wild. With suspect pitching, and the way these teams can hit, practically no lead seems safe. Hope Guerrero's bruised knee isn't too bad. :worried: Highlight of the game for me was Erstads stand up triple - man can he fly! :D

Paul Byrd vs Chan Ho Park tomorrow.. :sigh: I hope the offense is alive again. Kelvim's supposed to come back sometime next week.... that guy seems to always pitch nice low scoring games (knock on wood).
Are we the only Halo fans on the board? Sure seems like it!

I've been noticing how good Glaus is this year so far. I'm going to have to go down and catch a game and possibly get some Angels gear signed. We miss Glaus, but we don't miss all that time he spent warming the DL bench. Hopefully he'll stay healthy for you guys (unlike a certain Richie Sexson heh).

I don't mind if Glaus has a great year with the DBacks. He's still one of my favorite players.
Richie Sexson looks like he'll be back to his normal healthy self. He and Adrian Beltre (wtf were the Dodgers thinking?) were a HUGE addition to the Mariners.

Yeah it'd be great if all the former Angels have good years - Eck, Glaus, and Percy! Man I was bummed that he lost the game against the Twins - it happens though. And the Mariners being 4 and 4 at this point in the year I think is an improvement to how they started last year. The AL West will definately be the division to beat FOR the playoffs and IN the playoffs, though unfortunately with this much competition, we're probably not going to have the Wild Card in the West.

I've actually been to 1 or 2 DBacks games - sat in the bleeder seats because I'm too cheap. If there's a good team they'll be playing it'd fun to go though...

Angels 6 Athletics 1 :thmbsp: Bartolo Colon outpitched Barry Zito, although Zito pitched a good game leaving after the 8th inning trailing 2 to 1.
The Angels scored 4 runs in the 9th to put the game away.

Athletics 1 Angels 0 - 10 innings: A pitching dual between Jarrod Washburn and Rich Harden for 8 innings. The Athletics scored the winning run on a throwing error to 1st base by Scot Shields.

Not a bad game at all - I think the Angels can win today's game, taking the first series against the A's.
Rex B
04-18-2005, 10:51 PM
Well - if Lackey hadn't pitched we would have won!
And I told ya, Mark B, that we'd clobber Aaron Sele - "show those Angels" my butt!
6 to 1 Angels win it - just another Halo victory.

Really enjoyed watching the game on FSN. Despite being the regular announcers for the Mariners, they were commendably even handed in calling the game. The post-game wrap up was also very complimentary of the Angels.

@ LAA 2, CLE 0 :D
Winning Pitcher - Bartolo "Big Bart" Colon (W,3-1, 3.81 ERA)
Save goes to Frankie "K-Rod" Rodriquez (S,3, 0.00 ERA)
The only run we needed was provided by Ersty:
LAA 3RD - Darin Erstad singles on a soft fly ball to left fielder Coco Crisp. Jose Molina scores. LAA 1-0
An insurance run came in the 8th:
LAA 8TH - Chone Figgins homers (2) on a fly ball to right field. LAA 2-0
"Just another Halo victory"
Angels record now 8 wins, 7 losses. Will be tied with Oakland or Seattle for first depending on who wins!

Another win for the Angels!

Angels win! Down 5-0 after 1.5 innings, the Angels claw their way back, tying it with a 1 run single by Garret Anderson, and won on a solo homer in the 10th hit by Orlando Cabrera. "Just another Halo victory".
Wash didn't pitch too well, but he only gave up 5, and the bullpen was solid, giving the Halos a chance. Love seeing the 9th inning two-out comebacks!

Angel's win, 9 to 5 - crazy 5th inning! Oh, and testing an attachment!

Heyyyy alright! Angels take the home stand vs Oakland 2 to 1, tying the season series at 3 a piece. Great game - hope most of you watched it, being on ESPN and all.... pitching duel to the max. Now we're about to take on the dreaded (maybe not this year, lol!) Yankees at Yankee Stadium.... luckily for the Angels, we're the only team in the last 10 years with an above 500 record against the Yanks!

Great game on Sunday! What a treat to see the Angels play (and win) AND enjoy my favorite broadcasting team: Joe Morgan & Jon Miller.

Ouch, the Angels were clobbered 12 to 4 by the Yankee's on Tuesday. Bartolo gave up 10 runs (5 earned) in 3 2/3 innings. :sigh:
Jarrod Washburn & Mike Mussina are pitching todays game.
Mark B
04-27-2005, 08:51 PM
Angel's 5 Yankee's 1 :thmbsp:
That's much better! :) The starting pitchers for Thursdays game in N.Y. are John Lackey & Kevin Brown.

Was quite a nice game - RBI for Vlad the Impaler, 2 RBIs a piece for GA and Finley. Great game pitched by Washburn, and picked up by Shields to close the game out. Rubber match looks to be a slugfest though.... hope our bullpen is ready.

Today's game: Angel's 3 Yankee's 1 . . . just another Halo's victory.
Angel's take the series at Yankee stadium 2 games to 1. :D

3 in a row! First time this season - and the Angels go 5 games above .500 for the first time as well. Well pitched by John Lackey, the enigma of the Angels' rotation.
Mark B
05-04-2005, 01:27 AM
Nice little winning streak. Too bad they have to beat up the Mariners to get it. Ichiro looked out-of-sorts at the plate tonight, swinging at bad pitches, and picking up some uncharacteristic strikeouts.
Rex B
05-04-2005, 09:18 AM
Think he's gonna hit .400 this year? If there's anyone to break that record, I'd like to see it be him.... remember when Tony Gwynn (sp?) almost did it in 97 I think it was - or maybe 98 when SD went to the WS? That was awesome.
Mark B
05-04-2005, 01:02 PM
At the time I didn't appreciate Tony Gwynn's near accomplishment of hitting .400 for a season. In the last few years of following baseball more closely, I realize how difficult it is to achieve. As great a hitter as Ichiro is, I don't think he will hit .400.

Angel's 5 Mariner's 2. A three game sweep. :thmbsp: Too bad it had to be against the M's. The Angels return to the Big A Friday to play the Tigers.

The Angel's lost 4 out of 6 games in the home stand against Detroit and Cleveland. Now on the road and split the first 2 games at Detroit. The Angel's are 20 and 16 heading into Sundays game with the Tigers.

Hey!!! 2 wins in a row for the boys in RED! LA Angels take 2 of 3 at Detroit - and have the bats awoken from their 18 game slumber???
Also, 3 to 1 win against the Indians today (making the 2 wins in a row!)
Mark B
05-24-2005, 03:34 PM
The Angel's have a 26W & 18L record going into today's home game with the Chicago White Sox. The starting pitchers for tonight's game are Mark Buehrle for Chicago, and Bartolo Colon for Los Angeles.
The Angel's need to hold things together until Vlad is able to return from his shoulder injury. An MRI scheduled for early next week will show how serious the separation is.
Mark B
05-30-2005, 12:48 PM
Angel's at 30W and 20L largely thanks to the woeful pitching of the KC Royals. They start a 12 game road trip with a game today against the Chicago White Sox. 1pm on ESPN2

Ugh what a way to lose a game. Up by one in the 9th issue 2 walks, get 2 outs, then give up the game winning base hit. Oh well at least Texas isn't playing today so we're all tied up.

 It looks like there's going to be a battle for the AL West; the Angels lead over the Oakland A's is down to 2 1/2 games. I hope this gets their attention.
