Today, for .59, I found the acapella version of "Leave It". I have looked everywhere for this thing for years now. Whether or not you like(d) YES or any solo projects they were involved with, you have to hear this one. It is simply the best version. Used to be you only heard it on late night FM stations.

Thnaks Mark!

Z, that's a painting a guy (sorry can't remember his name) did of the scene in Dr. Strangelove where Slim Pickens (I think?) is riding the nuke headed for the Ruskies!

It reminds me of Robert Indiana (y'know, the "LOVE" stamp guy), but I am not quite sure why...

White, you and I MUST find a way to pair up and make the drive (fly would be quicker but then we couldn't buy heavy stuff to haul home) north for AK fest next year, no?

I think I still have the 12" single for "Leave It" with the acappella mix in storage with the rest of my vinyl. I need to get my vinyl out soon, probably after I get a new stylus for my table -- Foe

Funny story:About 3 or 4 years ago,Im leaving Bank one Ballpark after a D-Backs game, and these guys are handing out tickets to Cricket Pavillion for the next night.Turns out they were 2 free lawn tickets to see YES.I had been a big fan in the 70's,so I jumped at the chance. It was a terriffic show, but the crowd was so sparse that we got to move up to the reserved seats. How the mighty have fallen....

I didn't know that existed. I've been a YES fan for years, not a huge fan, but I have quite of a few of their LP's and give them a semi-regular spin. I have to find this version!!!

My goodness, I've found a bunch of other YES fans!! I have a whole bunch of their music in both LP's, all known CD's ( known to me!), and been a huge fan since I first heard them in person in the early 70's, although I have a few bad memories from those days, none were caused by YES!
I really didn't know that there were so many other fans still left out there; thanks for the YES swap group lead too! I play their music more than most other's that I have collected in over 30 yrs., which makes me think I must like them more than a lot of other's music from the "old" days, although I also play a lot of Jackson Browne too.
Is this a fun hobby or what?

I drove last night for 4 hrs listening to the Yesshows disk with the side that has "Ritual" from TFTO...

I dont care what anyone says...there just wasnt or still arent any bands that can rip their instruments like they do, sing harmonies, and play LOUD!!! all while playing music that you definitely have to concentrate on what your doing, or you will miss a que.

I saw YES here in Omaha on their come back tour with 90125
back in 1984 (or somewhere around there)...

MTV was here recording the concert to make videos later on...

The show was incredible!!!!!

I was a big YES fan before, but after that show I became a huge fan! :thmbsp:

Sadly, I saw them when they came back two years later and the show
wasn't anywhere near as good... still quite good though.

Will need to look into the yahoo group. Sizable YES fan here as well... From "Time and a Word" through "Tales..." anyway. Wore out two copies of "Close to the Edge". Was dissappointed in "90125"... I mean the lyrics actually seemed to mean something. What was up with that?

Saw them a couple times in the early 70's. Most memorable was summer of '72, around the time "Fragile" came out, when they headlined a show in the Akron Rubber Bowl. Festival seating landed me dead center about 20' infront of the stage. Center was a big deal as the concert was in stereo, complete with guitar jumping to and fro during "Roundabout".

Rest of the evening was pretty fine as well with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra preceeding Yes. Have to admit I did not quite "get" them at the time, but certainly got them later.

Opening act was a little known Country Rock group that had just released their first LP and had a single climbing the charts called "Take It Easy". I think they were called "The Eagles" or some kind of bird of prey name... Wonder whatever happened to them? :D

What a night that was...

Thanks to the threadstarter for prompting a rush of memories...

I only saw them once at Boston Gardens. Lousy venue, great show. It was the Relayer tour.

I have to say that playing Round About real loud on the old man's quadraphonic system gave me a real joi de vie! Still does, but I don't try to dance to it anymore.

Gee, I have a 12 inch single of it. It's the "hello, goodbye" version, isn't it?

Great find...I just found a holy grail myself a Yes Boot from a 1978 concert in The Forum...from the good says! '78 was the Pinnacle of the entire run, it seems pretty clear to me. I'm biased though, the 1978 Tormato tour at the Chicago Bulls stadium "In the Round" was the first live show of any kind for me. You can imagine how many good seats there were that night with the stage in the center and the seats in rings. :) Anderson, Squire, Wakeman, Howe, and White. The really really amazing thing that I've never experienced since was the sound balance. It was extremely powerful, but you could still talk easily if you could regain your normal senses briefly. They had some kind of a full ring of gigantic outward pointed horn speakers suspended above the rotating stage.........

"Closer to the Edge" , "Heart of the Sunrise", and "And You and I" I'd say were the highlights, despite the fact that Tormato was released about a day before. (They played again in 1979 with the same lineup and somewhat of a more electronically polished sound the next year at the same venue, and it was broadcast live on WXRT. Just as good perhaps, but I wasn't there to tell you for sure. I wonder why so few recordings of that '79 Chicago exist given that level of access. There are other soundboard-quality recordings from Cleveland and Wembley '78 around, I think it is, but they don't have quite the Chicago '78 magic I recall. Wakeman must have been having a good night ;)
