Just wondering- clicking thru the channels last night I saw the guy from Matchbox 20 on vh1-save the music. He had a musician on playing(well) a Jimmi Hendrix song; it was a tabletop-like guitar with about 12 strings and about 2' long. Anybody know watchamacallit :scratch2: ?

Mark's guesses (and they're just that):
Hawaiian guitar
Autoharp
Zither
(the latter two have more than 12 strings, don't know about the first)

could also be some kind of lap steel/pedal steel guitar if he was playing ti sitting down on his lap or on a table in front of him

It was Robert Randolph playing "Voodoo Chile" with Rob Thomas, and he usually plays a pedal steel -- Foe

Thanks everyone; just thought it was a pretty neat instrument.
