Decent score for the local Goodwill. Here's a pic. It's in real decent shape and appears to be working fine. It has blown dial bulbs. Does anyone have the amperage rating for these bulbs?

TIA

In a pinch, you can use #47 radio dial lamp bulbs......but they usually don't last longer than 6 months.

The bulb looks like a #51, thats a .05a bulb, the 47 is a .150a bulb. The whole 6v circuit is only fused at one amp. Just wonder what the original bulb's rating is.

I have a G-5500 and the service manual for it. I checked in it but unfortunately it doesnt list any info on the bulb's voltage/current rating. In the schematic it will show a component like LED 702 which is the Stereo Indicator light on Bd F-2862 or another lamp like PL 701 but thats it- when I look thru all the Parts Listings in the Manual for each board- I cant see anything given on the bulbs. Annoying, because I think the darn svce manual should simply give you that info. So I guess the only way to get the exact rating is to take the bulb out and see if the rating is listed on it, otherwise try and find out the info from someone who owns a G-4500 or similar- G-5500, G-3500 etc. who mightve changed the bulbs and recalls what their values are.

I'm a proud owner of a G-5500 that supplies premium juice into a pair of KEF-101 and a CS-135 woofer. Unfortunately, dial light is dead for some time now, and I am about to open it, and fix as much as I can do. (being here on this forum is a kinda warming up)
Some years ago I was asked to fix bulbs problem with G-3500, and what happened was - they went on when I touched them  After a good laugh, a conclusion was that a poor thing was afraid of my screwdriver :D
As these bulbs are hanging almost loosely on a chassis, there is no real need for replacing them with original parts, just fit and forget.

I believe these bulbs are 6.3V 0.25A and suitable replacements are available at Radio Shack.

The dial pointer lamp is likely a 5V 60mA lamp.

Indicator lamps (Stereo, etc.) seem to be 7V 200Ma lamps.

Go figure?

Paul

PS: This info is from my TU-999 service manual. Ibelieve they used essentially the same "bayonet" style bulbs throughout the 70's except for those pesky "fuse lamps". If yours are fuse lamps I have a source for those too.

i measure 7.5vac on the lamps.
might be why #47 dont last.
noticed they have a blue tint like ricer headlights.
