Finally got the shelf ready for the G-22000 - here's a pic of it in it's new environment. Thanks Kamakiri!

nooooooooo, I can't bare to look at it, the G-22000 and the Pioneer SX-1980 are my vintage dream recievers
Hey, let's barder alittle, I am sure you don't want that huge Sansui takeing up all that room on your shelf, how does 2 (yes, not 1 but 2) Kenwood KR-8010, a Kenwood KA-1500 and a Sony TA-2650 (hell, I'll even throw in the second one which works great but I used it for parts)?
c'mon you know ya want to, just think you'll be getting :::counts up everything::: 5 yes 5 vintage items for just 1 little Sansui :D
worth a try...no?

I'll have to pass! I couldn't sell it if I wanted to - took me 30 minutes just to get it bolted together to put on the shelf! It's not lite either. For size comparison purposes, if you look at the picture to the left of this under my name - that's the 22000 sitting on top of the 2 1980's.

lol, yeah I know, I was just playin with ya.
yuou have 2 1980's?!?!?!?
are you interested in taking one off your shoulders?
I would like to find a 1980 or something that needs work, but buy it real cheap, and make a project out of it and then I could bond with it as I use it, lol

Man I hope that shelf is slow growth oak or something....half the reason I sold it is that I couldn't find a single piece of furniture that would support something so big
Glad to see she's in good hands :)

Yes - makes you wonder what was sold back in the 70's to put these on!
It's 3/4" oak veneer - also has a support in the middle underneath towards the back - mostly hidden by the power meter.

What did you do with the amp section? I have my Big G in an entertainment center. The tuner section is in the TV hole and the amp section is under it in a smaller cabinet underneath with doors. It was stacked, but like Kama said, it has a tendency to warp anything in it's path. This way I hope it doesn't warp the shelf till I get a full length shelf unit built. I need to find room for 4 R2R decks at the same time, plus 2 Turntables, a reverb, cd player, 2 cassette decks.....plus an occasional visiting unit or 2. Big is the word I suppose.
What speaks are you using with it now? Hopefully I will be able to get all my waiting speakers refoamed in the next month or so, then I can see which set works the best. Have you maxed it out yet? I can fill the house at about the second click. Highest I have had it is peaking around a hundred watts or so, I couldn't imagine running it so hard the fan kicked on, yikes

Haven't had a chance to rock the house yet. Currently have a air of Technics speakers in there. I have a pair of Sansui SP-X11000's to put in there but have to do some work on them. Don't know if anyone is familiar with them but they are kind of like the receiver in that each speaker is in 2 parts - one cabinet sets on top the other with an 8 pin connector connecting them. The ones I have have had the pins smashed, are missing the grills and one of the midranges has a small tear in it. I'm attaching a pic of one from a scanned mag I got (don't have a pic of mine to put on yet). Will probably be able to damage something if not carefull. Specs on them are: on each side 2 - 17" woofers, 2 - 6.5 midranges, 2 horn tweeters, 2 - 2" supertweeters - 350 watt max input with dual presence controls, 102dB at 1 watt, and 20 - 23 Hz frequency range. Dimensions are 31 x 19 x 10 and weigh about 80 pounds.
Man I love those big freakin' knobs!
