I currently own a Pioneer VSX-9300 A/V receiver that has power amp input and preamp output with the connecting bars. I am looking for a replacement for this receiver, but I am finding very few but the most expensive A/V receivers with this feature. Would any members have any suggestions? I don't mind spending around the $1,000.00 area, but I really don't want to get into the ultra expensive $4-5,000.00 receivers.

Most higher models costing about 4 to 5 hundred will have them, but don't be looking for 'connecting bars' they don't do that anymore, they are just a main pre-out jack set now, they don't include the main IN anymore just the main OUT.

I used to own a Vsx 9300 great receiver very warm sounding and clean. it lasted me a long time. the preamp in it finally went bad and i got a new Onkyo receiver with an Adcom GFA 7807 seven channel amp at 300 x 7
i still use the pioneer receivers amp, i have it connected to my computer in my office driving an old pair of Rat shack Mach 1's

Check the Yamaha line for pre-outs, along with whatever else you look at.

fmjbullitt,
I would be very interested in purchasing the VSX-9300 from you if the price is right. I have been currently looking for the older VSX line for my front room 9300/9500/9700. Do you have the remote? Are you wanting to sell?
THANX!

FWIW My Yamaha AV receiver (RX-V1050) has both front & back input/output but it has trouble driving certain power amps. It got along great with my Hitachi MOSFET power amps but it didn't have the oomph to keep my Kenwood happy.

If I had to go for something modern with DSP and all the surround modes, I'd look at the Onkyo Integra line.
