FD83. Cost me $650 about 7 years ago. I notice lately that the auto focus doesn't focus like is used to...
ANy thoughts on this and possible remedies (other than buy another camera)?
Thanks

It is probably in need of service. Given the camera's vintage and its present value servicing would be a waste of money. If you were willing to spend $650 7 yrs ago, then $650 now can buy you one hell of a nice digital camera. Any money spent fixing the FD83 would be wasted.

But it wouldn't have floppies...

Mines a FD75. It has even less resolution, .3 megapixel (note decimal point). The zoom is all optical (10X) so this isnt quire as bad as it sounds. Im not under any illusions that this is a high resolution camera, but for grabbing images to post on the web, its hard to beat. Its a real no-bs camera. no cardreaders, no software. Just jpegs on a floppy already appropriately sized. If this thing broke tomorrow, Id be on the bay the same hour looking for another one, even if I had a "good" camera.

I have a Sony Mavica CD burner that I have taken over 40,000 pictures with not one hiccup. . . Love my Sony. . .

First one i had was a Mavica. It was 1.2 meg. Did ok but was way too expensive for what it was. I bought it due to using floppy's. Didn't realize what a messed up format floppy's were till i broke down and replace the Sony with a Canon. Light year better pics. fraction the weight, size and cost.

I gave the mavica to Kamakiri who ironically is having the same problem with the focus as you. I say trash it and for about 150.00 you can get one that makes the mavica seem like a toy.
