I picked up a Pioneer 117D a few weeks ago. Sounds fine w/ a Stanton. Just picked up an Ortofon OM10 and not sure what the proper method is for install. I know how to make the wire connections, just not sure how to get the alignment right, or if it even matters for this low level a table.

Any pointers, links, threads are greatly appreciated.

Go to www.enjoythemusic.com and download the alignment protractor. Follow the instructions and you should do fine. The OM10 is a very good cartridge for the money. Take your time and you'll do great. The link below will make life easy as far as understanding the turntable setup process.

One thing you'll find out right away is that a really good alignment on a cheap 'table will sound WAY better than a poor alignment on a High-Dollar audiophile 'table.

Remember that the needle on the end of the cartridge is riding in the groove of the record, and getting good sound requires that it be in contact with both walls of the groove equally in order to track properly...all this while the record is spinning, and the groove is getting progressively farther away from where the LP started up.

It's a very cool mechanical system, and a little patience and care will go a long way towards getting it to sound awesome...so matter what the 'table, or your choice of music!
