Hi, first thread here! (be gentle)
I recently purchased this classic - and well preserved - Magnavox home stereo unit. It even has the owners manual.
Attached are pics. Any idea as to this model's quality?
Thanks!

It's beautiful, and I like the old Magnavox stuff a lot... but that looks like a "mono" to me! :-)
Here's my Magnavox stereo console. PP EL84 amp which sounds quite nice. I found it at the dump.

I have a Magnavox "mono", too... curiously branded "Sentinel" (Magnavox must've bought the old Sentinel radio/TV company at some point).
BTW, there is a small Magnavox group at Yahoo. If you're interested in these old beasts, you might want to join it?
Here's the innards of my Sentinel. Note the Magnavox 6V6 pp mono amp.

looks like possibly a 1955 to 1958 model the amp is a amp142 has 4 6v6gt and puts out 20 watts I can fax you a schematic for this amp. this is a middle of the line, then you moved up to the 25 watt and then they had a 40 watt model as well. this was magnavox early high fidelity so they are worth something does it work? jeff from tulsa

i have a 1957 maggie that i bought off of ebay, the guy who i picked it up from kinda messed it up.i need some help with the speaker out put.i dont know too much about these, but if i want to test it,am i using the speaker terminals,or the h l c screws?i had a 58 maggie console with the same type of set up,but this mag has a preamp for the treble (i guess) and its been hell trying to see if i have it hooked up right.heres a pic of the model i took pics of it earlier but i cant seem to resize them for here.

I would guess the letters mean high/low/common so the C is where you hook up both neg, the H goes to the tweets/mid and the L to the woof(s).
You can get tubes, a variac and advice at Nortex over in SW Ft Worth. It is down in the river bottoms right off Vickery, close to the Benbrook line and 20. Mabey 30 min from Desoto.
BP,
I think the Russman saw a console just like that at a thrift not too long ago. If you didn't buy the one he saw you might be able to pick it up and have a stereo pair. Just pop a good TT in one after you fix them up and have fun with them. Of course if you have a bunch of 78s putting a new needle on what you have and you would be set.
