Main Rig setup.
All speakers using Fostex drivers exclusively. Great craftsmanship, to say the least.

Main rack. I was so busy staring at the Audio Research Preamp, I forgot what was in the rest of the rack. There was an air suspension system (active), with tank and all for the table.

The model 'oneZ' (pronounced 'ones').
Three layer front baffle, baltic birch if I recall correctly. The top was finished in a nice matte blue. These little pups imaged like a BITCH.

Closeup of the Fostex 2-way. Bullet tweeter is passed VERY high, with a simple, absolute phase 6db slope.

Pi seven Corner Horns.
Unbeleivable fit and finish, and a sound to match.
True, 3-way horn using a 15", 10" and 1" compression driver - all Eminence.
Lots of great speakers to listen to, but I'd say these were 'best in show'.

Fostex and Lowther, done RIGHT. A real treat to listen to, on my short list for sure.

Fred Arrays!!!
Fred not only is a shockingly handsome man, but his woodworking is second to none. I might have to talk him into putting me on a payment book for these bad boys.

The new DK integrated everyone is raving about, and for good reason.
Tube front end, solid state muscle on the back end. Dual 6922/6DJ8, twin 700v power trannies for a dual mono setup, 50,000uF capacitance.
Eighty-Two pounds.
The meters on the front don't show power input, but rather INPUT line voltage - I thought that was a neat change.

Stonehenge.
You could 'feel' the demo several rooms away. There is NO replacement, for displacement.
Fun speaker to listen to, a little bright on the top end for me - but nothing tubes might not solve.

I'll refrain from drinking until the pictures are done next time.
Quality components, nice to see someone keeping these vintage drivers alive and well, and brought up to date.

These pictures further prove that REAL wood and veneers is the only way to go. I, for one, will ONLY have speakers with that "REAL WOOD" look.

homminah, homminah,homminah.....Be still my beating heart..I don't know much about audio stuff...not nearly as much as most of the rest of youse guys...But I do know this is some SERIOUS gear..and prolly costs more than a mere mortal like me could afford in 3 lifetimes...Like lookin' at a Duesenberg...70 yr old car, but even the most clueless would have to say that this was no go-to-work special...-Sandy G.

Great pictures Russ, thanks for sharing. It sure is nice to see the Iconic stuff finally out and in the flesh after SO long in the 'its coming, its coming' stage. Most of the promised crossovers are still not available but it's looking like pricing for these will be stratospheric anyway so I'll be pursuing DIY for my Altec projects.
As exciting as the prospect of some newly manufactured Bill Hanuschak drivers is to me, the one that most intrigues me is the 604 (sorry, 704) and it's really too bad it didn't demo so great at this show. If they are anything like the 604's I use, the prospect of listening to them in a temporary set-up in a live hotel room, using CD as source and SS (the horror!!!) at huge volume levels has my ears crying out in pain all the way from Toronto.
I hope I have the opportunity to hear these proper someday, I'd love to mount them in one of my cabinets and hear them at home.

Nice stuff! I dropped by for a couple of minutes. I didn't really like the format of setting up in different hotel rooms - it was kinda strange pokin' your head in people's hotel rooms. I looked for the AK members but, with no visible name tags, I resorted to using the "AK" call - you know, a loud abbrieviated "Ack Ack - Ack Ack". I was referred to the "Mars Attacks Role Playing Conference"!!!

I can't get the Audio Note page to load, though. :worried:
