For Sale, at Audio Atlanta: One pair Tannoy "Arena" Model C6 Mini-Monitor Speakers.

These are the PREVIOUS Arena series... NOTHING like the current Arena HT-system products. These speakers use the Tannoy ICT concept... Induced Concentric Tweeter. It is, in essence, a tweeter element energized by the same magnetic field as the woofer... a method of generating a concentric radiator, with much of the performance of the Tannoy Dual-Concentric units, at a fraction of the price.

The C-6 has a 6" woofer and 3/4" ICT tweeter; the speakers are approximately 12" tall, 7" wide and 6" deep.

These units originally sold for $400 for the pair; this pair is available (store demo unit, never sold) for $100 for the pair, plus shipping.

If interested, please contact Audio Atlanta by phone (770-499-0145), the Internet ( www.audioatlanta.com ), or PM me: GordonW.

Thanks...

Regards,
Gordon.

Does that mean it has a whizzer cone? Not trying to be a smart-aleck, Gordon (believe it or not), but I am curious as to whether this is "new wine in old casks" or something subtly (or vastly) different than the ol' "twin cone" approach -- or Altec's "Biflex" cone approach, for that matter.

Please excuse my ignorance.

Actually, no, it's a seperate element, with a seperate magnetic assembly attached to it, driven by the magnetism of the voice coil of the woofer. It's actually induced-force to the dome element...

if you look at the Tannoy web site, many of the current ceiling and wall speakers use the ICT technology. The explanations there should also apply to these C6 models. Here's a link to a current ICT-equipped product, which uses the same type driver:

Thanks. Will take a look. Lowther does something like that (separate VC windings?) with their whizzers, don't they?
