I cropped the picture so that you don't see the custom bumper ;) You gotta wait till the final before and afters for that ;)

Looks like she will be all painted the Metallic Blue by Friday :D

Um, Thor? What happened in that first pic? It looks like the primer's all scraped off! :( Your second pic does not show this, yet it's the same *ahem* color. Just curious.

You weiners those are the old wheels and tires which I told the guy not to bother with covering since as soon as the car get home the new shoes go on it ;)

Did you truly think I'd spend all that dough and keep the lame OEM wheels? And 4 mismatched tires? You guys hurt my feelings! I didn't even keep the OEM bumpers why would I keep the wheels?

You have got to be color blind, the first picture the car is painted pink, the second one is car is primered in grey

Hey man! That's really coming along! That has got to be exciting!

Can't wait to see it all finished. You probably covered this somewhere along the line, but what are you doing for a stereo in it?

Hey what do you want, I don't exactly have an great monitor! :lmao: (I can't wait for this present POS to burn out so I can replace it!) The pix all look the same to me... I may not be colorblind, but I think the monitor is! I saved all the pix and the ones marked "1" and "before" have RGB values according to Paint Shop Pro v5 in the grey-pink range, but "after" and "primer" are indeed, yes, grey. I'm sorry, Thor. No offense meant. Probably the difference in monitors or daylight/artificial light in picture-taking.

What I meant to ask is what happened to the front panel between the headlights on your very first posted pic on page 1.

Oh not offended just sensitive to the pink thing is all ;) When I first got the car the body was in rough shape, I think the former owner went off the road into the woods or something. Then the car sat under a tarp for 4 years under a tree. Every panel had damage what you see on the front was the bumper was cracked and paint had peeled off. Both bumpers were replaced, rear trim piece was replaced, right front headlight cover was replaced, many dents pulled out panels straightened and aligned so that things lined up. Rust hole was fixed, antenna and windshield washer holes filled in. All the paint was ground off down to the metal and all the old bondo ground off. Sideskirts and a spoiler were added. It's a pretty amazing transformation ;)

Stereo is a Pioneer DEH-P3700MP CD/MP3/WMA player, door speakers are Pioneer TS-A1780R 6-3/4" 4-way speakers, replaced the OEM headrest speakers in the seats with the MAX 5 ones and we will be installing 8" JBL P800 subs into the rear cargo deck powered by a 200 watt Sony amp. The rear deck install of the subs is quite involved since it involves cutting the sheet metal and getting the subs to fit next to the gas tank.

Minor thread detour. My apologies, Thor, but it will explain why some see your car as pink and others don't.

I checked my monitor. Because I do graphics work, I have my monitor set for a white balance/color temperature of 6500°K, which is considered the correct NTSC "white" for TV and computer monitors. It's redder than the bluish 9500°K that approximates natural high-noon daylight... to which most TVs and monitors are set to impress in showrooms. Since my monitor is set for 6500°K, your car's primer looks like it has a pink tint.

In any case, I love seeing how the car's coming along, I really do, since I've always been interested in anything with wheels! I can surely tell even with pix that this is truly a labor of love. I wish you well and I'll keep looking to see the progress! :thmbsp: And thanx for the explanation, too!

OvenMaster, thanks for the explanation. I was beginning to doubt my eyes, as the 'after' pic looked pink to me, too. Not in graphics work, but I checked my monitor, and the 'temp' is set the same as yours. Never changed mine, wouldn't know how or why, so it must have been the factory default.

NP, Luvvin. It came to mind, as I'm the type to contantly play with PC settings a lot. I just happened to think that some digital cameras also have a white balance setting. This'll probably alter colors as well, not to mention cloudy skies, sunny skies, tungsten lighting, etc. So if we see the car as Thor does face-to-face, it'd probably be a miracle!

Well let's keep our fingers crossed I am going out tommorow after work to check the progress and I am hoping she is ready to come home for final assembly  Unfortunetely it is supposed to rain thru Monday so I may not get it back even if it's done. I took everything off it including the soft top so we can't put it on the platform truck and haul it the the 20+ miles back home unless it's clears skies :sigh: It will be freaking awesome if it IS finally all painted tho

Sandy G

Try to keep it outta the rain as much as possible as long as it's just "in the pink" w/no paint...Sometimes, primer absorbs water & can cause serious rusting....I've seen it happen all the time...These rednecks around here will spend MEGABUX on bodywork, & then won't paint 'em til they get "a Round Tuit" 6 months later...and by then, their '78 Camaros are happily rusting away again. -Sandy G.

Oh no it has not seen any rain since I bought it always in the garage, the whole time it has been in the body shop it has been inside too.
