My wife and I are going to Portland, OR for a 4-day holiday in June. I've cycled down there for the STP and was there for a 1-day course, but we haven't vacationed in the area.
We are definitely going to spend a couple of days at Powell's Books and Powell's Technical Books, but I'd like to crawl around some good audio emporiums (both new and used) and a great road bike shop or 2.
Any hints on sights to see while in town would be appreciated as well.

For used equipment check out Echo Audio at 425 SW 10th Ave (503) 223-2292. It's within a couple blocks of Powells. When you make a call in Portland you need to dial the area code, but don't dial a 1 before the area code.
Agree with the recommendation of Echo Audio -- great place and nice guys. There is also a street a bit farther out of town with lots of used stuff kind of stores, with several good record stores (one with a pair of Design Acoustic Dodecahedrons in use) and at least one very good used stereo store (they had a pair of sequerra transmission line loaded ribbon tweeters a couple of years ago). Haven't been there in a couple of years so perhaps the above poster who lives there knows the name of the street and whether those stores are still around.

Thanks, gents. I'm used to dialing the area code, we have stacked codes in Vancouver, too. Anyone know where the good bike shops are?
Mark B - where would these used stereo equipment places be? Would you happen to know a shop name, street or district?
Thanks,
Graham

Check out Craigslist before you head that direction.
Portland must have a bunch of audioheads there, cause there's tons of great used gear listed everytime I look
Just a thought :)

I'm not familiar with any other used audio equipment places in Portland. If you're looking for places that have "vintage" audio gear you could ask Kurt at Echo Audio if he knows of any. Can't help you with bike shops - all I know is that Portland is bike crazy!
