First, can you give us some details? What type of speakers are you using? Size of room? Other components? Type of TV? Budget?

I would look into Yamaha's RXV-1500 or RXV-2500; There both 7.1 with all the latest decoding by DTS, Dolby. Their amplfied seperate source zone 2 output can be used to power your Study speakers or you can send the amplified signal into a speaker switcher for distribution to multiple rooms. I have the RXV-2500 and I'm very pleased with it.

I want to start with the receiver first, then a speaker at a time. If this helps, I am going to get these speakers:

Polk Audio Monitor 60 for Fronts
Polk Audio Monitor 50 for Surrounds
Polk Audio Monitor 30 for Rear Surrounds
Polk Audio CS1 for Center
SVS Subwoofer, Don't know Yet.

The list might change, but that is good for me right now.
I have budget of $400 to 600, I just want to get the best for my money and great sound.

sorry for not having enough info :thmbsp:

I'd make sure the rec'r has pre-amp outs/main amp ins for future power upgrades.
